hi,
i want to set IP address to a device (not a PC) that has a ethernet port. i know the MAC address of the device. Using MAC address i want to set a custom IP address to it.
i searched for WIN32APIs, and this forum but did not get a solution...
plz help me in this regard...
if any other windows based programming has this feature plz let me know...

Hi
This will affect only your own computer: check ARP command use (set a static ip address to a MAC address)
e.g.
arp -s 44.22.33.11 00-01-02-03-04-05
I've used this to get in touch with external print servers with unknown IP address

i tried the ARP thing.. BUT.....
it sets only the STATIC IP address to my device..
when i ping to that IP it wont respond...
plz tell me by anyway i can set the DYNAMIC IP...
i have one application which sets DYNAMIC IP.. 
but i m not able to do the same in my code...

Hello ...
I am currently trying to implement login page using MFC.
I intend to pop up message box on loading the application for the user to key in login and password.At the same time, I am facing problem in getting user login and password to compare with the authorized login and password stored in a table in access.Can anyone help me to clarify this doubt or you have any samples online pertaining this.I have treid to find from MSDN but I cant find the example/sample that I meant above.

Each menu item generates two messages you can catch, one when it's clicked, and the other just before it is drawn. This is where you decide if it's greyed out, ticked, etc.

The following packet (captured by a packet sniffer) is sent by a FPS game server to the client, to list the number of players (~14 in this case) and the current map/gametype. How would I go about deciphering the names of players from this data? Is it encrypted/compressed somehow?

Look Like you are trying to create a game spy or game hacker (this is cheating  , but i too do this  sometimes ).
Anyway the game programmer(i.e. the network programmer) are smart enough to encrypt the the data before sending,so that hacker have some tough time solving it.

No, this is definitely not for cheating; in fact, almost the opposite. I'm trying to decipher the packets broadcast (sent to 255.255.255.255) by Halo 2 (xbox) on a local system-link network. I have two reasons for trying to do this: to make LAN tournaments easier to monitor, and to possibly connect the in-game names of people to the XBC name they use (so I don't have to worry about booting the wrong person).

It does indeed look like it is encrypted/compressed in some way. Reverse engineering of the game code that deciphers, or if you can ask the programmer who wrote it!

Are there any ready-made simple solutions (or discussions) of methods to find near-matches in text strings? Perhaps allowing string comparisons with 1 character missing (or different) to be categorized as a match?

I use regular expressions to insert wildcards into strings and then check for matches to achieve this. If you replace every third character with [.]{0, 2}, and do all three permutations, you'll probably get some mismatches, but you'll get most common misspellings as well. boost provides a c++ regex library

i was able to download a sentence parser created in c++, visual studio 6. but i need to run it in .net, how can i convert this vs6 application into a vs.net application, without any errors?
does anyone here have a sentence parser done in vb.net or c++.net?

You import it into VS7, and if it fails to compile, then it's not standard C++, so fix it.

I assume this means you want managed C++ ? Otherwise, why would you care about VB.NET ? I believe you can make your app managed with just one compiler switch, but I've never touched MC++.

Hello,
I am developing a Matlab program in which i need to use a DLL Library.
The DLL Library has 8 functions which inputs i know.
The DLL livrary is compatible with C++, C, Pascal and Visual Basic.
To use the DLL in Matlab I need to create a header file.
The problem is that I haven't work with C for some years and I am completly lost.
Can someone help me out or just put me in the right direction?
The Matlab part i am able to do but the C part I am having huge problems.
I have a Help File which include some code examples of each function declaration and its usage.
I post it here. Probably it is the best way to show what I have.

Does anyone know how to find a local group's permissions? I am enumerating through the local groups on my machine using the NetLocalGroupEnum API, but when I check the group using the NetLocalGroupGetInfo API, I only get two pieces of information that I don't need:
1 The group's name - already have, don't need again
2 The group's description - doesn't serve my purpose
Are there any APIs or methods that I can use to find if a local group is an admin group? Do I need to pull out the SID for the group and do anything with it? Could anyone even point me in the right direction?
