Let me add to your rant. We have noticed on the Surface Book Pro that if you do NOT reboot after updates are downloaded. The machine just cripples itself until it is unusable and REQUIRES a reboot.

Upon rebooting, we see Updates were pending (I believe they are partially installing the updates, and breaking things internally, which catch up to us). But one of the things that just stops working in the printing.

We now reboot a lot more. Which is funny. Windows XP and Windows 7 had kinda fixed that problem for a while.

Windows 10 caused me to buy our first Mac Mini. And while the shell is a lot nicer, it still has some horrendous update cycles... But it has not shut my machine down...
