No, I answered the questions quite honestly -- not just honestly, but based on real world experience. So, when there's a question like "you are happy to drop what you are doing and immediately help a coworker that is having a problem", my answer was "disagree", because it depends on what I'm doing, and whether the coworker can figure it out on their own and learn something, but they're just asking me because they know I know the answer (happens all the time!)
But because I "disagree", I'm now marked as an antisocial cretin.

Isn't it just funny how ASP.NET just showed off everything in their first or second week? I mean, I was myself very much eager to try out the new things in ASP.NET 5, however, I did write a few articles and blogs when I was sharing "how-tos" on CodeProject etc.
Now, team has said that ASP.NET 5 is dead and well, ASP.NET Core 1.0, .NET Core 1.0 are available and they would be used.

That's why I prefer to involve myself with the gritty details of low level programming - the lower the level the happier I am. Staying on top of the web / platform independent framework looks like a rabbit chase, where we are the running dogs and the rabbit is a lie.

May I ask what industry you work in? I'm also more interested in low level programming than web development, but all the jobs I see are for ASP.NET MVC.

Industrial machines. In my specific case I work both on image processing to detect foreign materials in food, beverage and pharmaceutical products and on the connection of the elaboration to all the components, like X-Ray generators (usually controlled by RS-232 or RS-485), X-Ray detectors and associated acquisition boards, PLCs of various kinds (depend on what the customer has), I/O boards, Modbus equipment of various kinds, inverters...
We use a standard Windows PC, develop mainly in C++ while the UI is VB6 (next major version will be C# hopefully) and the occasional SSE functions for repeated and intensive computations (applying Gauss filtering, chromatical normalization, rotations...).
The UI needs very little tricks as it must work with resistive touchscreens due to the usage of rubber gloves, and must be reliable so that clumsy movements would not cause troubles (like involountarily turning on the X-ray source or the belt or the parameters for the inspection).

Those would be the same bosses who thought that moving from VB6 to VB.NET would just mean recompiling the code. After all, it's still "VB". 
And because they thought that was happening, some influential customers made sure that VB.NET kept a whole raft of dross from VB6 for "compatibility" reasons. Things like: non-short-circuiting boolean operators; declaring arrays by specifying the upper bound, instead of the number of items; and the abyss that is "On Error".

Yes, those terrible "cross-over" days where we all used "Len(sText)" in our vb.net sites. Same mistakes today though, just a different generation;

The urge to buy is strong, but vendors are so slow in releasing decent enterprise level laptops with intel skylake in it! Got my eyes on several HP models, but it's taking HP ages! I'm thinking about zbook 15u G3, or the elitebook 850 G3. The ZBook studio is down on my list due to lack of num pad. Also I hate that we can't fully configure laptops like it's possible on HP's US site.

I've a Dell M6500, the low end of their desktops disguised as laptops. Another place to look.
My urge is in the opposite direction: I'm looking for a box to plug into a TV's HDMI port. A few options are attractive. CuBox 4x4, for example, and maybe some of the flash-drive shaped PCs. The latter, however, have somewhat fallen out of favor since I want a real O/S such as either Win7 or Linux. I plan to sit back in a recliner and work in delightful comfort should the snows come. One other option's starting to make headway: a refurbished desktop. I've seen a few, a bit of $100 US, which come essentially complete. More space but real possibilities.
Anyway, back to your topic: Dell does make i7 version (mine's an i5). Add that 17" screen size and you've got a pretty mean machine.

I occasionally look at Dells, and whenever I find one that is close to what I need they totally f*** it up by e.g. omitting proper pgup/pgdn/home/end keys. HP so far hasn't let me down once I moved to their enterprise line of laptops 5 years ago, so I'm gonna stick with HP for a while.
I was too lazy to do a full on research project on which TV box to buy, so I just went with Apple TV 3, pretty happy so far, except that I lose the remote all the time because it's so tiny. But I've seen tiny PC boxes intended for the living room that come with a remote control included.

Maybe it's because of the 17" monitor, but I've a full-size keyboard that feels like a real keyboard. I use an external wireless mouse but the touch-pad seems to accommodate several style (buttons above, buttons below, finger tap). Hold's two HDD's and you can configure for RAID 1.
I don't own any iProducts and, although I'll use whatever I get for media, it's supposed to be a PC and not just a TV Box. Not going to happen with an iToy. I actually have a bedroom media box, Patriot's "Home Box Office" - place essentially everything you can plug into one of its USB ports. It's actually a small Linux box but I've not messed with accessing the O/S as that's not why I got it. Just good clean audio and video support without any leanings.
That QNap box lists for $400 - My plan is to be under $200, and very possibly around $100 (hence the look to refurbished desktops).
