Don't reply to a post, then delete it.
If you know about using the Registry class, then changing a value in the registry should be very simple for you. I havev no idea what you're having a problem with, and there's no way on earth you're going to get me to write something for you. That's not what CP is here for.

Hello everybody
I'm using TAPI3 to send and receive data between computers, but I've got two problems.
1- I intialize the modem by TAPI, but I need to know on which port the modem is? That's which port to write the data to
2- I can send the data by writing it to the port, but how can I know when I've received data?? I mean what event will be fired?
I'll really appreciate an opinion here. Hope you have some bright ideas folks!

Serial Ports are stored in this registry key: HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\SERIALCOMM, since I don't have a modem connect I can't investigate further but maybe there's some string value or something which indicates if a modem is connected.

Thank you for your reply.
I found the Key you mentioned, but I'm quite concerned about variations in Windows versions -eg Home edition, NT, ME, the new Vista??-, besides -as you said- it doesn't mention if that modem is connected or not?
Thanks again for caring. I really appreciate it.

I hasn't changed through from 98SE to XP, I don't know about Vista, wern't they supposed to do away with the registry all together ?

I don't have a modem to try it on since all my stuff is done through the ethernet, but after Thursday I can investigate (exams will be over).

Thank you Ed. I really appreciate your efforts. I also hope you do well in your exams.;)
By the way, when I said "it doesn't mention if that modem is connected or not?" I meant that, if there are more than a modem on the computer -such as the case of some telephony centers or switches-, we won't know which modem is which , and which modem we are using now in our program, see?
Anyway, I'm grateful for your concern.

Take a look at this[^]article, there's a registry key in there that might be of some help to you.

As an instructor I get this question a lot.
The Inside C# by Tom Archer is a good "intermediate going towards advanced" programmer. I wore my copy of the first edition out, very useful.
If you need an advanced book, I would recommend either CLR via C# by Jeffrey Richter, which is terrific for figuring out what is going on under the covers, or a more practical book, Practical .NET2 and C#2 by Patrick Smacchia.

I used version 2 into the ground, and just bought the 4th ed(he updates for new versions of .NET) cause its even more helpful. I'd highly recommend it.

Yes, it is good idea.
I Recommend you to read (C# for programmers second edition) by Deitel and Deitel.
It is Good Book for you.

Is the system you're uploading to a web farm? Is the application distributed across multiple servers?

That's strange. I suggest to put a Breakpoint on Session_End method from Global.asax just to be sure that the session timeout is the problem.

Hello!
I want to read a item´s text from another process, but I tried so many ways!
All I could find was in VB or C++!
But I got no clue how to use VirtualAlloc, OpenProcess, CloseHandle, etc in c# with structs!
Because TVM_GETITEM needs a struct, and in order to get the information that I need from another process I must do a lot of things!
If anyone got any Idea that can help me, I appreciate!
Thanks

Hello
Are you accessing the treeview from another thread in your application, or between different applications?
|
|
|
|
|
It´s from different applications.. each one on its own process.

Hi i have one doubt ,for craeting an object in which this requires parent object where as parent is abstract?How it's possible?
Class Structure:
public abstract class Setting : DefinitionObject, ISerializable
{
#region Fields
// Fields
. . . . . .
#endregion
#region Construction/Finalization
// Construction/Finalization
/// <summary>Constructor.</summary>
/// <param name="parent">The parent setting.</param>
/// <param name="category">The setting category.</param>
/// <param name="strName">The setting name.</param>
public Setting(Setting parent, SettingCategory category, string strName)
{
EditMode = true; //Setting object need to be in edit mode.
m_Parent = parent;
Name = strName;
CategoryAsString = XmlSettingCategory.CategoryToXmlCategory(category);
//Setting base properties set the dirty flag to True. Therefore we have to set it back to false.
base.SetDefDirty(false);
}
}
public class CollectionSetting : Setting, ISerializable
{
#region Fields
// Fields
. . . . .
#endregion
#region Constructor / Finalization
// Constructor / Finalization
/// <summary>Constructor.</summary>
/// <param name="parent">The parent setting.</param>
/// <param name="category">The setting category.</param>
/// <param name="strName">The setting name.</param>
public CollectionSetting(Setting parent, SettingCategory category, string strName) : base(parent, category, strName)
{
}
}
CollectionSetting cSetting = new CollectionSetting(? , ?? , ???);
What i give the input to "?"Because this requires parent object but parent class is an abstract?
Please help me .....
