Hi to all,
I learning myself the vc++,I undestood the mfc programming ie how to program ,but i am confusing to do a project with aid of mfc's.I have little confusion how to do or append the mfc classes,how many classes are there?
Is it the right way to learn the classes in mfc
Please guide me regarding this the way of learning the vc++
What are "must"class to append how Can I know?
any reference books?

I need to invoke a html page on my local machine say C:\\xyz.html via shellexecute.
When i use
ShellExecuteNULL,"Open","C:\\xyz.html",NULL,NULL,SW_SHOWMAXIMIZED);
one of the existing IE windows is getting altered..All that i need is - none of the existing IE windows should get disturbed.But i need this html page to be invoked in a new IE window. Also i tried this way.
ShellExecuteNULL,"Open","IExplore",NULL,NULL,SW_SHOWMAXIMIZED);
ShellExecuteNULL,"Open","C:\\xyz.html",NULL,NULL,SW_SHOWMAXIMIZED);
The first statement invoked a new IE window.But the latter statement did not alter this newly created IE window,but it set one of the already existing windows to xyz.html....Can anyone help me in this?

I'm making an application which will draw tables.
But i'm having problem in displaying text in a cell (a rectangle).
it should be alligned left/right/center.
will anybody help me to use DrawText() and its switches??

The "uFormat" parameter (examples):
DT_RIGHT = Aligns text to the right.
DT_CENTER = Centers text horizontally in the rectangle.
DT_LEFT = Aligns text to the left.

hi,
i want to set IP address to a device (not a PC) that has a ethernet port. i know the MAC address of the device. Using MAC address i want to set a custom IP address to it.
i searched for WIN32APIs, and this forum but did not get a solution...
plz help me in this regard...
if any other windows based programming has this feature plz let me know...

Hi
This will affect only your own computer: check ARP command use (set a static ip address to a MAC address)
e.g.
arp -s 44.22.33.11 00-01-02-03-04-05
I've used this to get in touch with external print servers with unknown IP address

i tried the ARP thing.. BUT.....
it sets only the STATIC IP address to my device..
when i ping to that IP it wont respond...
plz tell me by anyway i can set the DYNAMIC IP...
i have one application which sets DYNAMIC IP.. 
but i m not able to do the same in my code...

Hello ...
I am currently trying to implement login page using MFC.
I intend to pop up message box on loading the application for the user to key in login and password.At the same time, I am facing problem in getting user login and password to compare with the authorized login and password stored in a table in access.Can anyone help me to clarify this doubt or you have any samples online pertaining this.I have treid to find from MSDN but I cant find the example/sample that I meant above.

How to you alter menu items such as enabling, disabling, graying out, or even adding an icon next to a menu item I am using a MSVC.net compiler.

Each menu item generates two messages you can catch, one when it's clicked, and the other just before it is drawn. This is where you decide if it's greyed out, ticked, etc.

The following packet (captured by a packet sniffer) is sent by a FPS game server to the client, to list the number of players (~14 in this case) and the current map/gametype. How would I go about deciphering the names of players from this data? Is it encrypted/compressed somehow?

Look Like you are trying to create a game spy or game hacker (this is cheating  , but i too do this  sometimes ).
Anyway the game programmer(i.e. the network programmer) are smart enough to encrypt the the data before sending,so that hacker have some tough time solving it.

No, this is definitely not for cheating; in fact, almost the opposite. I'm trying to decipher the packets broadcast (sent to 255.255.255.255) by Halo 2 (xbox) on a local system-link network. I have two reasons for trying to do this: to make LAN tournaments easier to monitor, and to possibly connect the in-game names of people to the XBC name they use (so I don't have to worry about booting the wrong person).

It does indeed look like it is encrypted/compressed in some way. Reverse engineering of the game code that deciphers, or if you can ask the programmer who wrote it!

Hello,
Are there any ready-made simple solutions (or discussions) of methods to find near-matches in text strings? Perhaps allowing string comparisons with 1 character missing (or different) to be categorized as a match?
