The error means your code expects a COM object that is not registered on the server. It's obviously registered on your machine. If you know the path to the exe in question, go to that directory in the console and type regsvr32 yourfile.dll and you'll get a message to say if it could be registered.

Occasionally when I click on a link in an Outlook Express mail and IE launches, IE hangs.
If I kill IE and repeat the operation it works OK. I think this only happened after moving to SP2. I have all patches applied (except for yesterday's).
Any ideas?

Hi,
I want to implement google suggest technology(listing down the relevant names as and when the user types) in my J2ee application.
I know that we can implement this using simple Javascript.
But google suggest technolgy uses AJAX for this.
Which one will be the best solution to implement .Is it using Javascript or AJAX?
AJAX is very complicated to implement.
Pls suggest
Thanks

bOTH vb or vc's activeX r capable of self registering. U just need to create the cab version of your activeX (OCX) ... i think u should know the cab version... for exceptional cases i m informing you that..whenever you create the setup of any project, that setup creater also has options like u want setup or cab version... so create the cab version of your ocx. cab versions automatically downloaded to the visitor and then registered automatically..oh yes u also need to write tag of the cab of ocx version inwhich page u need that control.

I'm trying to trim dynamic text into my ASP/Javascript using the Left Function, but without any success. Here's my form:
<%
var RecordCounter = 0;
%>
<%
var RepeatCounter = -1;
%>
<% while ((Repeat1__numRows-- != 0) && (!rsPriceMod.EOF)) { %>
>
<% RepeatCounter++;
Response.Write(RepeatCounter + 1)%>. <%=(rsPriceMod.Fields.Item("Part_Number").Value)%><%=(rsPriceMod.Fields.Item("Part_Name").Value)%>
<%=Left(rsPriceMod.Fields.Item("Part_Description1").Value,5,)%> <%Repeat1__index++;
rsPriceMod.MoveNext();
}
%>
The following error message occurs:
Microsoft JScript runtime error '800a138f'
Object expected
/DescriptionMod.asp, line 451
...where line 451 has the left function!
|
|
|
|
|
There is no Left function in JScript. Use the substr or substring method of the String object.
---
b { font-weight: normal; }
|
|
|
|
|
this is what I have in my page:
<% Response.Write((rsPriceMod.Fields.Item("Part_Description1").Value)) %>
Where do I include "substring"?
Thanks.

Remove the excess parentesis, and apply the method to the value:
<% Response.Write(rsPriceMod.Fields.Item("Part_Description1").Value.substr(0,5)) %>
If the value is not a string at all, you have to convert it to a string:
<% Response.Write(String(rsPriceMod.Fields.Item("Part_Description1").Value).substr(0,5)) %>
---
b { font-weight: normal; }

Hi there,
Can you be more specific about the error? As far as I'm concerned, the most common error is that there's a control requiring to be placed in a form tag with runat=server .

What's Wilson masterpages?

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for opinions before even starting this new ASP.NET project. In the past, we've usually developed our projects under one Visual Studio project. Now, I'm wondering if it would be better to break up this new project into separate projects. For example, for each content type section of the site, create a new project specifically for that section and have developers work on their particular section. And with that, there would be a top-level project that binds all of these other projects.
I'm just wondering if there would be any type of adverse code management impact , or would this usually be the preferred way to break up a large project that has many different types of content section.
I'm sure this will open up a large can of worms. Any and all opinions are appreciated.
~Brad

Any ASP.NET project should be at least three projects, the presentation layer, the middle tier, and the data layer. Having your programmers work on multiple projects that represent parts of the presentation layer is a terrible idea, IMO. Doing that without having the seperation of n-tiered development would be even worse.
You put all the files in source control, and each programmer checks out the bit they are working on.
