Yes. I felt it's easy than typing the markup. Don't you use toolbox ?

Never. I always type the markup, b/c the design view in VS2002/2003 was a nightmare, and I just got used to doing it by hand.
Plus the design view generates a lot of css that I don't want auto generated for me.

I agree. Typing markup gives more control than the designer. I guess auto CSS generation can be controlled, right ? When I add some tables, I used to disable the auto CSS generation, so it just generates the tags.

Fair enough, I abandoned the designer before I investigated those sort of options.

put a literal BR between them, or otherwise seperate them in the HTML.

Hello friends,
I am using built in controls for membership. I got this error when I run the code for passwordrecovery..
what could be the cause and the possible solution?
error is
The SMTP host was not specified.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.InvalidOperationException: The SMTP host was not specified.

The cause is that you didn't specify an SMTP host, and so an email can't be sent. Specify a valid SMTP host.

Thanks,
I mention the smtp host name. The error is changed now to
" Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: 5.7.1 Unable to relay for iamdking@rediffmail.com"
where iamdking@rediffmail.com is the mail address of the recipient...
What could be the solution for this?
Thanks in advance,
Amit

This is a basic javascript task. Your button has OnClick, it also has OnClientClick. OnClientClick points to a javascript function, if this returns true, OnClick is called. This sounds like you can do it all on the client in JS tho.

what is the difference between events and function
If you have an apple & I have an apple and we exchange our apples, then each of us will still have only one apple but if you have an idea & I have an idea and we exchange our ideas, then each of us will have two ideas!

Do you have any sort of source materials yourself, such as books ? You should get some.
An event is just a method, but it's also a delegate, which is basically a pointer/reference to a method. This means a method is specified as a paremeter, in code, and whatever method(s) you specify are called when that event fires. So, you can write a function, and it's a function. If you write a function with the signature of an event, and attach it to an event, then the event mechanism is used to associate that function being called with that event firing.

req.GetRequestStream().Length' threw an exception of type 'System.NotSupportedException'
I'm getting this error while implementing paypal payment process.
when control going to this statement in asp.net page after coming back from payment process completion.
StreamReader streamIn = new StreamReader(req.GetResponse().GetResponseStream());
code:
string strSandbox = "https://www.sandbox.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr";
//string strLive = "https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr";
HttpWebRequest req = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(strSandbox);
req.Method = "POST";
req.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded";
byte[] param = Request.BinaryRead(HttpContext.Current.Request.ContentLength);
string strRequest = Encoding.ASCII.GetString(param);
strRequest += "&cmd=_notify-validate";
if (strRequest != "&cmd=_notify-validate")
{
req.ContentLength = strRequest.Length;
//Send the request to PayPal and get the response
StreamWriter streamOut = new StreamWriter(req.GetRequestStream(), System.Text.Encoding.ASCII);
streamOut.Write(strRequest);
streamOut.Close();
//ERROR in below 2 statements some time ---right now not coming
StreamReader streamIn = new StreamReader(req.GetResponse().GetResponseStream());
string strResponse = streamIn.ReadToEnd();
streamIn.Close();

Hello friends,
I want to implement security module in my project. I want to create roles and users.where each user will have different access rights..what could be the easiest way to do this.?

hi,
is it possible to pass an arraylist in querystring??
any suggestion?
thanks in advance.
|
|
|
|
|
Just send a comma separated list.
|
|
|
|
|
declare a string,and use server variables to bring down path.
public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page
{
string path;
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
path = Page.Request.ServerVariables["SCRIPT_NAME"].ToString();
Label1.Text = path;
}
}
You can modify the path by remodifying the code
string path;
string modify;
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
path = Page.Request.ServerVariables["SCRIPT_NAME"].ToString();
modify = path.Replace("/", ">");
Label1.Text = modify;
}
}
Which will appear similar to Breadcrumbs, with minor modifications you can make it to breadcrumbs too.
