The database should not have a date time format, it should store date objects, not strings. Ideally, you would have a user setting that specifies the date format, and then enforces it, DateTime.TryParse has an overload that allows you to specify a format provider, and therefore, a format.

I have a web application and I want to avoid multiple users to login on the same application from one system at one time.
For example if a user logins in to an application, and if another user login to the site using single type of browser then the previous user should logout. I am not sure how to implement this but was thinking of using cookies..
could some one tell me the approach

Yes, cookies would help, or you could check the IP of each person as they log in.

Thanks! But how good idea is to have the IP address. If IP addresses are static then what will happen?
Pavas

Doesn't matter if they are static or not. In fact, static is usually better. But this doesn't matter. I am connected to the web right now. My IP is not static, I don't know my IP address. I do know it won't change until I log off and reconnect to the web. You're talking about someone using the same machine to log in twice. If they do that, the IP will be the same.

Why on earth would you ask that in the ASP.NET forum ?
Or do you mean in a web app ? Selected for what purpose ? You can't just drag out the mouse and have a bunch of controls go active, no. You have to write code for that sort of thing.
Your sig has changed, I just noticed, your company name and role is gone ?

Draw a rectangle with dot line on mouse click (x1,y1) to mouse leave (x2,y2).
and make visible true/false according to your requirement.

Hi,
I am using .Net 1.1 for my web application.
And my database server is SQL Server 2005.
My application is running fine, as i can login to it and also able to view pages. But when i open Order management(having 3K records) its give me error,
General Network Error. Check your network documentation
I have also searched many articles and tried following solutions but nothing working
- connectiontimeout = 0, max pool size = 7500/100, pooling = false
- SSL disabling enforce security false as mentioned in microsoft kb article.
And there's nothing any issue with hardware/firewall as my application's login and other forms are working fine(which use same database with same connection string)
Can any one please help me to solve this error?

Hi,
My requirement is: If a mail has been pending in particular login for more than 3 days, a mail should go from admin to that particular login automatically. I am trying to do this in ASP.NET 1.1. Can someone help me out?
Thanks in advance

pending where ? You mean if it's sitting in someone's outbox and has not been sent ? Where is the mail, and how do you intend to do this with a web app ? Is the web app running on the same server as the mail server ?

It is pending in Someone's Inbox and he didn't open it. Yes, it is a web application and i really dont know how to go at it. Yes, both application and mail server are on the same server.
Thank u

Then you need to work out how to connect to the mail server ( exchange ? ). What does the app do ? I mean, if you send an admin email automatically, what's the UI do ?

There is nothing to do with UI. Only a mail will be sent to the User Saying that he got a mail before 3 days and this should be automatic. I think this will happen in the background.
Thank you

OK, so the question has nothing to do with ASP.NET. You probably want to write a windows service that does this. The steps would be
1 - find out about any API that your mail server offers
2 - write the code to look for messages
3 - ask in the right forum when you're stuck.
