I was reading the other day about a forum that converts the sms/texting speak to proper words. i.e "u r" to "you are".
Any chance of adding something similiar here (the profanity filter and smiley creator already does similiar work), might be nice to have as an option for written word snobs like me

when pasting raw HTML into the HTML panel, there is a parser error:
opening comments (<--) that are not followed by a space immediately are not preserved, but rather translated (to <--)
This is especially nasty since the Article Template contains such comments (<------------- bla --------------->), and it finally explains the "all in bold" articles....

How about adding a version field for the VS.Net version that the article was written in. I don't get to spend much time here anymore and my version of Visual Studio is beginning to become dated. with no plans to update it soon.

Could we please have a listing of the number of matches found when searching for an article rather than next and previous?
Either the google style showing the number and links to the available pages, or a total number of matches would be terrific
At the moment it's a bit hard to work whether you need to refine the search criteria - especially with so many articles being added all the time

How your seeing difference in that ?. Any real usage?. Anyhow we will go through all article which we got after searching. Why cause requirement is our's. In google the senario is different.

With all due respect to the work Chris has done on the search. I still prefer to use google
e.g: Search for C++ Label control[^]
Of course it doesn't get the latest articles until the spider's been round but it has never let me down yet.
Sadly, this doesn't work searching the forums (for good reasons), so your suggestions could be useful there.

Would be really handy if the message rating was displayed somewhere in the subject line of the message (next to date or user name?).

Not relocate, just add the current vote value to the heading line instead of having to open a message to see the vote results. If it is in the header, you might spot a message with a given rating that you wish to look at and see why it is rated that way.

I apologize in advanced if this has already been suggested and there is a reason why it is not done. But I am curious of why CP does not use sub-domains? It would be much easier if we could go to http://lounge.codeproject.com instead of http://www.thecodeproject.com/lounge.asp .
Just wondering, I am sure there are more important things in the works at CP… thanks!

What would be the big differnce? Do not see any reason for the extra work just to use a sub-domain, keeping in mind it is a web farm.

Sub domains are fairly easy to implement, most servers these days have nice GUI interface to do so. It would just be a nice touch, they are used a lot all over the web.

When people read an article or read a message on a forum they generally have two options:
1. They can vote for the article or message.
2. They can post a message to the article or as a reply to the message they read.
I propose we merge these two options.
The page where people enter messages should have an extra drop down where people can optionally enter a vote for the article or the message they're replying to. If all they want to do is vote, they can do so by leaving the Text portion of the message blank, unless they enter a vote of 1 or 2. In that case, they'll be required to enter a message, where they will (hopefully) explain the reason for the low vote. This will allow us to see who voted low for articles or messages and why. And it will allow us to reply to those people.
Another benefit of this feature is that a low voter could change his/her vote by modifying or deleting the message.

Yes, and the message will most likely be a garbage post. If people wanted to say why an article was poor or a forum post was crap, then they will post a message anyway - without being "forced" to.
I don't see the point of identifying low score voters. It would only lead to ill-feeling and tit-for-tat low voting. That's just human nature.
