why not we have an AUTO-REFRESH OPTION for the page..?
like :
SET AUTO REFRESH RATE [ 40 ](Seconds)
so that new threads or messages can be viwed easily...? possible?
Most likely because the load would kill the servers. Besides that is such an old-fashioned way of doing things. A RSS feed would be the better way of achieving the same results. I'm sure that one day we'll get an RSS feed for the CP forums, but I'd much rather the team spent the time on improving the performance before they start adding on new features.

I do spend really a lot of time to make a *.doc, but when I create a html from it, copy it to the wizard and try to change styles something goes wrong...the article submission wizard does not work correctly...
Has anyone the same experience? Is this an error in the submission wizard?

Don't use Word for creating HTML pages. The code it generates is cr*ppy.
It's been a while since I submitted an article, but I wrote the HTML code by hand when I did. You might also want to save the CodeProject CSS file and reference it from your working copy of the article. Just make sure you remove the reference when you submit it.
Cheers,
Vikram.

Word to HTML is really bad. However, if you must use it download and install Microsoft's Office HTML Filter. It only helps a litlle though. Also, are you using Word's Save As "Web Page, Filtered" option?

Actually, I do use HTML-Kit and not Word for my web development.

I've only been a member for about a week and let me tell you I am very pleased with my decision to sign up to CP. I've been poking around all the forums and reading much of the very helpful tips and suggestions that people make on CP. This might be a dumb idea but I myself am really interested about learning Flash and I know a lot of other people that are interested also. Would it be possible to add a Flash Forum to CP. I think it would gain CP a lot of hits for information on it and many of the Whizzes on here are probably very experienced and could help n00bs like me out. Thanks a lot.

We're trying to focus on Visual Studio and .NET related technologies. Flash would be nice but unfortunately we need to draw the line somewhere.

you're right, but maybe it's not a bad idea to add a forum for developing questions that aren't in any other forum. This would keep some from posting programming questions into the lounge .
I think about java, flash, crystal reports, ... and so on.
No hurries, no worries.

'General Discussions' is the catch-all forum for off-topic posts.

Thanks for the reply. I can totally understand that decision. There is already a ton of articles and forums on CP and I am sure you guys have enough trouble keeping up with them as it is. Thanks anyways.

Sorry if this has been brought up before, but I don't seem to be able to get the message Preview option working any longer in any of the message forums. Has something purposefully been changed?
I really like seeing the first couple of lines of each message because it allows me to scan the threads without having to open up EVERY single message. The best benefit is when those messages contain simple statements like "Me, too."
If it isn't broke, then can't you please bring it back?
Thanks,
Dave

There was a bug in the Preview mode that is now fixed. Just select your forum view type from the 'view' dropdown above.

I have newer seen any of the posted suggestions come to reality, everyone cant bee putrid.
Or can they?

Then look a little closer.
The suggestions here are just that - suggestions. I keep an internal list of features and bugs and I add / fix them as I can in their order of importance. When new suggestions are made here they are added to my list.

Looks like when you click the BackButton you appear to be signed in. After you signout and after the homepage appears, close the browser and open it again.
I think your signout should be successful.

It would be nice if next to the user's total messages posted, there was an average vote showing the total average of all messages voted on. This could be used as a personality check to see if a user is usually on the positive side of CP or not.

As a self-assessment test. Besides, we already have witching parties in the SoapBox without any of this.
