The format gets updated automatically because when we load a question for editing we do

if (forceToHtml && format = textWithHtml)
    format = Html;

I've made a change so you no longer need to fix your profile settings. We disabled the ability to post in text-only mode (we now always accept HTML), but old profile settings were overriding this.

When you view an article, there is a summary of the current vote at the top - but the actual vote buttons are at the bottom of the article, and can be a long way away. Shouldn't they be together?

I like to know the score before I decide and start reading, and I probably want to vote when I'm through, so it does make sense to me as it is now. I wouldn't mind having them together twice, once above and once below the article.

I think that it is good as is: You want to see the rating to get an idea of how good the article is, but you want anyone voting to have at least scrolled through the whole article. I assume this is to prevent voting on just the first few paragraphs of the article, and article votes have a way bigger effect than anything else here.

Sort of a cross between Lawrence of Arabia and Dilbert.[^]

Hi,

I like the silver connector that relates an answer to the "parent" message Thumbs Up | :thumbsup:

. It is very usefull in long threads. But...

Actual behaviour is: the connector is visible when you move the mouse over the messages no matter if message is opened or not, but just a very short elapse (I guess around 250ms) when you navigate the messages with the keyboard.

Would it be difficult to make it visible as long as the current message is open? I mean, just the same functionality, but staying while you read the message you have clicked on as well, undependantly if the mouse is over the link or not. It would improve the keyboard navigation through the threads.

In your confirmation e-mail you have the Phishing statement half way down the page. Why not move it above the confirm button so that users will be sure to see it and read it before selecting the button. This way they will know to cut and paste the URL prior to making a choice. I almost selected the button but my senses got the better of me and I cut and pasted the URL. It was during this hesitation that the Phishing statement half way down the page caught my eye and re-affirmed why one should cut and paste URL's rather than blindly select response buttons.

That is a good idea, so that people/members will be more aware of phishing and fakes.

Something strange is going on in the article review pages. The forum at the bottom of the page is duplicated. Also, I tried to comment on this submission[^] and my comments are accepted but then disappear, and I get forwarded to the composing page which does not have a vote option.

Also, some comments I made earlier on a post have disappeared. Do you have a rogue hamster on the loose?

I'll second that. I noticed it last night but was browsing on my tablet and thought it may be an issue with that browser. It seemed fine yesterday afternoon.

Failure is not an option; it's the default selection.

For pending versions we create a new forum so that members can comment on the changes and editing without polluting the main discussions on the article itself. I've updated the UI to make this more clear.

The new editor seems shaky. Is it changing now continously?

Would it be possible to have a "save now" feature? Yes I know that it should have a automatic save but for peace of mind it would be nice to "force" a save

I just worked with updating my latest article. After 1 hour+ and several "preview" I decide to quit for the day and continue tomorrow. I check the "Work in progress: don't publish" and then I press "Submitt" because I assumed that meant "save" but not submit-for-review (due to checkbox)

Result: All that I wrote went away.
Now when I try it again I see a text at the top
"We respectfully ask that you please read and indicate your acceptance of the contributor's agreement. This agreement allows us to publish your article and outlines your rights and obligations."

I try it anew but this time I cannot press submitt unless the "I have read and agree to the contributor's agreement" is also checked. If I check that and try the changes are saved.

Obviously something changed with the editor while I was working on it, the behaviour is not the same (or am I just too tired?)

We had an issue with article updates not saving correctly that I'm hoping I've fixed (I've pushed out a quick release) but will continue to look at tonight.

Your "Save" button was just made by our senior dev, too, so I can add a button to trigger an auto-save.

I've done some major reworking of the Auto-save and added a "Save draft" button. I also have the page save on page unload, meaning it should always get your latest stuff if you accidentally (or otherwise) close the window.

Is the "save in-process" malfunction problem back again?

For a couple of days I have worked on the next update of an article. Today when I was going to continue all my changes are gone.

I earlier very carefully chose "work in progress: don't publish". I double checked previews and verified x-times with "save this version" and so on. I even stopped editing and went back to the article and click "update your article" just to verify that my changes were there. Apparently they were then, but not now.

All the pictures I uploaded are still there but the other article changes I worked with last night are all gone. This is very frustrating, maybe only off-line editing is the way to go?

This might be unrelated but if I now go into versions I see that for the last days where I worked on it it is edited by Smitha Vijayan.

Now to my questions. I hope you can help me out:
1. Any way for me to get back the edition I worked with yesterday?

2. Why is an editor working with my "work in progress: don't publish"?
If I "diff" the changes from the latest edit by the administrator there is no changes visible. It looks like whatever it was, was removed.

3. Why is this still happening? Human error by editor or me or is the save draft only kept for a short number of days?

2. I'm going to ask. I agree, "work in progress" articles should remain untouched.

3. We're not sure. We're reworking a big chunk of the code to rework the piece that handles the new versions. I don't think it's user error, I think it's our issue, and we'll fix it.

I do have a small, small suspicion which might help? I do not know if this was the case but it is not impossible. Read on:

Is there an "auto save" every x-time units? Even without user interaction? What if you edit in one browser on one computer, then continue to edit on another computer, while still having the "edit" mode on the first? Will the first, old, edit auto-save and overwrite the newer edition?
