It took me a second to figure out what you meant, but now that I have I agree.
I wasn't, now I am, then I won't be anymore.

You seem to be easily attracted by articles you don't like. I would be careful when assigning epithets.

In older versions of the forum when the page was loading really slowly (eg 1 message line/second) if you clicked on any messages before the load finished it restarted loading the entire page. This only made things worse so I always twiddled my thumbs when the hamster wheels needed oiled; but a few minutes ago I forgot and clicked a post and had it open without triggering a page reload.

I fixed that a couple of months ago.
I love that you just noticed it - it means the change was useful to the point of invisibility. A worthy goal for software.

Extremely slow. Sometimes the pages won't load and only loads on repeated refreshing. FYI.

I'll ask and see if there was some maintenance this morning.

Thanks, the slowness went away after about an hour or so.

Once a trouble-maker's rep has fallen below some acceptable value, say, -100, the account should be suspended from posting or voting for a period of 10 days. Once reinstated, the account's debator points are once again reset to zero, and we start again. If he falls below -100 a 2nd time, his account is supended for 30 days. When is account is reinstated a 2nd time, we re-zero his debator points, and we start again. If he falls below -100 a 3rd time, the account is locked and rendered unusable. At each suspension, all of the user's voting points are removed as well.
I know this is going to be hard to do, but Sherylee is raising havoc - again - and something should be done.

Funny that you should suggest this. I was thinking along the lines of Chris "accidentally" sending you his whereabouts. A much more permanent solution, don't you think?
(I was going to reply to POH's Lounge post, but you beat me to it...)

Although I agree something should be done, I don't think this would work.
If a reputation is negative or zero, I don't think someone would feel so attached to this account to wait out the suspension period. Instead, they could just make a new account and repeat their behaviour.
It would be different if there was a reputation requirement of f.e. 500 Author/Authority before being able to vote anywhere and make non-programming posts.

yeah but you are not a big poster of message in the Lounge. So by what you are saying you would have to post a bunch of answers in order to rake in the authority points in order to vote on a silly thread in the lounge. this will promote even more bullshit answers in the Q/A forum. my 2 cents.
I say restrict access via IP address (if possible) as "one of" a few ways to accomplish retribution and punishment.

Crappy answers would get downvoted though, so the poster knows they have to post something meaningful if they want to advance their reputation.
Personally I think it's not a bad thing to have an Author/Authority requirement on some functionality, considering the code project is about programming. Then again, Debator reputation as requirement on voting would be equally effective.

Yes and no.
However, I do see the point you are trying to make.

Sherrylee is only raising havoc because people are responding to him. If they just ignored him he'd soon give up.

As others have rightly pointed out, blocking the account doesn't do anything. Blocking or quickly and easily cleaning up the damage will.

Since a couple of days I have this issue that the input field where comments are entered and edited does not receive the focus. Before I could press the comment link and just start typing immedeately but now I have to click into the input area first.
I'm using IE 8.0.6001.19019 on Windows Vista
I experience the same at work with Windows 7 .
Did anything change here in the last couple of days?
