The vote your seeing is from a member who seems to legitimately feel your message should be removed. No down-voting spree or abuse. They simply feel that someone posting a message saying an article is "silly and pointless" should be removed. Seems to me the are entitled to their opinion.
Old messages resurface all time time. You're reading too much into this vote. "it was sought out nearly 18 months after the original post. Doesn't take a mastermind to figure it out." does jive with what I see. A member has simply voted for a message's removal.

Sorry Chris, don't buy it. There is absolutely no way that post can be considered abusive by any stretch of the imagination. Not satisfied at all. Think I'll go find some posts that offend me and vote them as abusive. You can't complain: all I have to say is that they offend me and that's it: -160 points. Wonder how many I can get through in one night? And, yes, I am pissed about this: it's not even the points it's that I will have to tread on eggshells in case I upset someone who doesn't even have to reveal themselves to do this. Bloody right I'm angry and no, I will not drop this until something is done to redress the situation in a fair manner. Perhaps if you're going to allow it you have to show who it is: I'd like the right to question my accuser, so to speak. I'm sure you'll think I'm being a little childish over this but I don't see why it should be allowed to be used to punish honest posts.

I certainly hope you're not asking me to justify the behaviour of each and every one of our members, nor explain to you what they were thinking when they cast a vote. I can tell you that the member in question had not (from what I saw) downvoted you in any other way nor were they embarking on any targeting against you.
Feel free to continue on in this unproductive manner. I've told you several times we're working to improve this and I can offer you nothing more than an acknowledgement that our systems aren't perfect, but that the good they provide (which you have acknowledged) outweighs the occasional bad.
Until someone legislates more hours in the day all I can do is ask your patience. However, I'm not getting the feeling you really care about the realities we face in managing this site nor the compromises we have to make to balance things for everyone.
I get that you're mad. I'm not sure how pissing off other members or causing more headaches for me is helping anything.

Nicely played: the guilt card! Of course I care about CP or I wouldn't have hung around for so long and I'm mad because I care and because that aspect of the voting system is, in every way, wrong. Keep the points, I really don't care - I don't want them back - donate them to ryanb31 - he needs them a lot more than I do.
Okay: so what are you going to do about it? At the very least it should be altered now so as not to deduct any more points from anyone until you do decide what to do. Perhaps this is one of those times where you should allow the users of the forums to decide what should be done rather than making a unilateral decision. Without wishing to upset anyone (I would never do such a thing) it is us, your users, that make this site the home-away-from-home that it is.
There, I'm done: my anger is spent like a JSOP bullet. Have a pleasant evening.

This post[^] was orginally posted in Lounge. The joke was horrible and even OP accepted it and so on. Later I found this post moved to GIT.
Did OP want this moved to GIT? If not then this gives a perception that GIT is a dump yard for "Bad" posts?
cheers,

Excellent point.
I want to know too.
GIT is not a dumping ground for bad jokes.
If at all it was this bad, it should have been removed by downvoting (as is the normal process for bad posts).

Believe you me, you are not getting all the bad jokes!
There are quite a few in the Lounge you know.
However I think there is possibly a case to say that certain humours work in different cultures/political spheres/historical perceptions, and there is also the 'Lost in Translation' aspect.
I wouldn't worry about the bad jokes, for in a pile of crap comes occasionally a diamond!

Yes you haven't told any for a while Dave.

I don't think that's what they were annoyed about though. I think it was more the fact that the joke was moved from the lounge to GIT, leading to a presumption that while it wasn't suitable for the lounge it was more than acceptable in GIT.

Thats what the point. Also "half the joke" will not understood anywhere

I moved the post to save the poster from getting crucified on the Lounge and to have others in the Indian forum coach the user. This is, after all, the purpose of GIT.

If enough people voted to remove your sticky messages at the top of each forum (example), would they be automatically removed?
If so, I recommend that you disable that capability and you remove the "vote to remove" option from those messages.

We should test it!

Just tried it on the message above. Seems to have allowed me to report the message as abuse. So... my suggestion is to not allow that.

Update:
The pattern double-quote, backslash, backslash, double-quote was causing it. (I'm writing it out because I don't know if it will do something similar here.)
I changed it to:
@"\"
which is the equivalent in C# and the problem went away.

What is use of "Star" symbol in question ?
I guess it is for bookmarking the question. If yes then Where to find my bookmark.
I tried to find in "My Bookmark" option from my account but it says
"There are no bookmarks for this item type."
Hope this helps.

I posted my first article today using the article submission wizard. Unfortunately, I got a fatal error when I pressed the "submit" button. I got a cute screen that said, "Something bad happened ... ." There was a reference to "invalid view state". I can't get back to my article. I hope that you haven't lost it. I'd like to see it online and have a chance to make any edits that I missed while composing.
I appreciate any help I can get.
