Hi, may I suggest that you use normal English (not text speak) when you communicate with other engineers, it makes it easier for everyone to understand. Just a suggestion. :)

"Wat is th nxt thing i need to learn and hw n frm where" - The next thing you need to learn is how to spell words and how to avoid this childish textspeak, since the use of textspeak makes you look like a twerp. Most professionals find it insulting and offensive to be addressed in such an unprofessional way.

First question, why do you want to be a web designer while currently working as a web developer? IMO It's like going backward or something. Currently what type of projects you are working now? ASP.NET? php? or what?

Here you go.

For web designing, you should learn HTML, CSS, DHTML, Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, javascript, etc.,

Education needed indeed (my 5), but not just that; this is also about being an Artist. Please see my answer.

In my opinion, to become a Web designer, you need to be both: a software developer and the Artist. Did you get a decent school of drawing, painting, familiar with industrial design, human visual perception and cognitive science in general? You will need all that to be a real designer. You need serious school in arts, real education and training.

To be an artist is the key here. Many "designers" are not even close to that, but… who needs them? Most sites are hard to view without pain in the eyes.

Thank you, Raja.

As you can't spell, I'd suggest that web design might be a challenging field for you to get in to.

Ha, this is a point (no wonder someone voted 1 for this answer; sloppy, careless and mean people ferociously protect their right to be mean, sloppy and careless :-). My 5.

Frankly speaking, this might be a wrong forum if you want to turn into Web Designers. Most of the people here are programmers (web developers like you). AFAIK, knowledge of JS will give you an edge as a web designer, but does not make you one. Ofcourse, you need to have design knowledge. And remember, like engineering, design is a science.
You also need to ask yourself, what is it which motivates you to become a designer? Do you think you are one of those, who are born with a taste (I wish I was one :()

Anyway, off topic but this one has a nice comparision between a developer and a designer.
