As stated in the second point, In your .aspx page, In the @Page directive, at the end just put - EnableViewState="true". Let me know, if you still not able to do it.

Say "ddlBook" is the dropdown control, "gv" is your grid view.
If you want to find control from 1st row of the grid view, It should be done like below:
DropDownList ddlBookInstance=(DropDownList)(gv.Rows[0].FindControl["ddlBook"]);
string selectedVal = ddlBookInstance.SelectedValue.ToString();
if you want to loop through the rows, you can do it like below
foreach (GridViewRow row in gv.Rows)
{
DropDownList ddlBookInstance = (DropDownList)(row.FindControl["ddlBook"]);
string selectedVal = ddlBookInstance.SelectedValue.ToString();
}

And also tell me this:
On Save click, are you able to get the instance of the drop down inside the GRID ROW?

1) Is the row header issue resolved? How is it looking outside the container?
2) If you want to verify the performance, have stats for the following:
(i) Check how much time is taken for data retrieval from the data base?
(ii) How much time is taken for the data to be retrieved from you data access
layer to presentation layer
(iii) How much time is taken for the data binding.
(That is time for painting the grid on to the form)

I guess it is a web application going by the code (It is a drop down list).
But, it is difficult to understand what your problem is?
Give details of data loaded into the dropdown list. That can help in understanding the issue.

Why don't you try to have just one grid in a separate form and test it from there.
Obviously I am not sure about the complexity of your project, I feel some thing fishy about the form or container in which your grid has been placed.

1) What do you mean by "datagridview is not getting refreshed"?
2. Just setting the back color will not help. You have to set

Did you try the solution I gave?

As Wes Aday has rightly asked, Is the webserver configured to use .NET 4?
If Yes, is the virtual directory set to work with .Net 4? To check this, right click virtual directory, go to properties and select ASP.Net tab and ensure framework version is set to 4.0

The question is quite fine for me.
If it is opening up in browser, ideally it should work with web browser control in windows application also. Please let me know the below details:
1) What is the size and other details of the document for which you are having issues with download?
2) In your web application is there any config setting related to this?
3) Are there are any specific settings you set for browser control in your win app?

Hi Kumar, be clear with the below thing:
Are you referring AjaxControlToolkit.dll in your app? or
In your web.config just find AjaxControlToolkit.dll is written any where?
Let me know, I can suggest you what to do from there.

Hi,
Are you referring AjaxControlToolkit.dll in your app?
If not, You might have added this to "add assembly" section of web.config.
Comment that line of code and see if error is gone.
If error is gone and you want the assembly to be referred, you have two options. 1) Uncomment the above line in web.config and Add the dll to GAC
or 2) Keep it commented and refer the dll from a physical location.
Regarding where to put the code:
Button should be kept inside your <form> tag of your aspx page and
The script must be put inside the <head> tag of your page.
