Yes. If you mean Access DB Engine, yes.

When the program is installed in Windows 8 (office 2010), I get the error
"ACE OLEDB 12.0 is not registered in local machine"
Since this problem was discussed even in MSDN forum and solutions were offered
1. Install Access DB engine (32 bit and 64 bit)
2. Build targeting x86 instead of AnyCPU
But these were discussed in the context of Windows 7.
But presently I am facing the same problem (i.e. getting the error-
"ACE OLEDB 12.0 is not registered in local machine") when I try to install the program on machines with OS WIndows 8, though the same program works on Windows 7.
Hope I am clear

when the program I developed (in VB 2010 using Access as database), is installed in client's computer Windows 8 / Office 2010, she gets error message
ACE OLEDB 12.0 not registered on local machine
So the program cannot be run
By the way, I have built program for platform x86 and I asked my client to download and install Access DB Engine
But this did not help

No Amit. If that was case I would not have posted it. The thing is the field which is not visible is primary key. So the record would not have been added in first place. Anyway when I search that value it is there. But soon I take mouse the value disappears.
That is why I posted this!!

Hello
I had placed all database files and other resources in Application Folder in
Deployment / SET UP Project and expected to access these files from the application folder where exe will be available. Only way to access these files was from getdirectory method.Do you think that this is wrong practice?
Are you suggesting that these resource files must NOT be placed in application folder in Deployment Project? I will be thankful for your reply...

Thanks for your reply. when I developed this code and deployed in XP OS the following code executed properly
ctrdirPath = System.IO.Directory.GetCurrentDirectory
ctrdirPath = ctrdirPath & "\evqed.mdb"
I placed all database files and other files through Deployment Project. But when this is run on Windows 7 I get the path to be C:\Windows\system32\!

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I get error in file name as the path string returns a value
"file:\D:\VBHProjs\QED\QED\QED\bin\Release"
I think that because of "file:\" in the string I am not getting access to file.
Any idea?

Well, is there a way to determine the lowest version of framework based on the project? My concern is the users PC might not be having the required OS (like XP- SP3), it is better if my program works on users PC with no need to install more packages. You have remarked "Choice is yours as developer", I would like to know how to determine the version ie, which version supports what functionalities?
Since my projects are simple. I donot want the users to have too many downloads/upgradations. I hope you have understood my problem. Thanks anyway for the suggestion.

Thanks. But my question is "Can we arbitrarily choose a version? What functionalities are to be considered for choice of a particular version? Are there any criteria for this choice?"

He didn't ask about raising from anywhere else?!? I quote the question again "I have a user control contains a panel and a button on it.
When I click on the button I need to raise a click event for the control."
Does it mean to you that he is asking about event hadler for the button? Who is too lazy or stupid etc...

Your answer is too simple. Any novice knows how to get event handler by clicking the component in design view. What he wants is to raise event for a component from some other event!

Thanks a lot. But still i have a problem
I am using laptop connected to printer via USB,
Following vb code is not working.
Dim p As New Process
p.StartInfo.FileName = "Print.exe"
p.StartInfo.Arguments = "/D:USB001 C: rash.txt"
p.Start()
I believe its not working because its USB port. Does it mean the above will work only with COM port or LPT?(by the way, when the code is run, print window flashes On and is immediately closes, but it doesnot Print.)
Thanks in advance.

Thank you. Can you elaborate? for instance, to send file path as argument?
