The solution will work. But note that the if (!Directory.Exists()) is not needed. Directory.CreateDirectory handles existing directories well. And it is a good idea to add exception handling. Also consider using the return value of Directory.CreateDirectory.

The SQL approach is not the problem. It is the way Excel displays numeric values.
Don't know how hard the 'without making any modifications in excel sheet' requirement is. When only values may be added, then the best guess is to find a Excel option to change the default display numeric values behaviour.
When no calculations are involved you can parse the values as alphanumeric values.

With the interop assemblies you are able to add some formatting to the numeric cells. But that is modifying the excel sheet. Probably no one will notice it, but still...

Nice solution. But keep in mind that in many regions in the world Saturday and Sunday are working days.
To solve that there must be a definition of working days (or non working days) been added and tested against that definition.

Also curious about the reason to test app.config. From a application point of view most settings is app config are just values of variables.

When it comes to continues integration and deployment it is another point. Should the deployment process not been tested and the config file is not named app.config anymore....

but that is sql injection, you should use parameters that are passed to the sql command

It is a good thing outlook is warns for unexpected / unwanted access to your mail. Better no one is helping you to suppress the message.

Not sure but I'll think the Office Interop libraries will give you the possibility to show the e-mail in you're desktop application.

When you change the system culture of the culture of the current thread, OleDB will use that culture. In my understanding the requirement is to store in another culture than the current. That can not been achieved as far as I know.

Are you using the full path for the application to start, or a relative path? The difference between starting the first application from the explorer and start from the registry is the working folder. Make sure you pass the absolute path to the StartInfo.

Besides, it looks that all values the dataset are assigned to textBox1.Text. As i understand your code correctly, in the end becomes the value of the last column of the last row.
