Such is the life of an embedded developer. C and Assembly on the automotive CPU, C++ on the Linux CPU (both on the same board).
I also used C++ for the last 8 years and a half, on windows desktop / embedded industrial systems, plus Assembly (fast operations need to be fast) and VB6. Since I am now 2 years clean from VB6 I did not mention it.

I checked it, Java and SQL too.
Would have checked C but it said recent past. I miss C, it made me feel smart. Working in Java with all the SpringBoot crap which is just VooDoo code makes me feel like I'm not really in control of my code.

Envy because you probably have serious job security since you are pretty much irreplaceable for legacy systems, but pity because you're pretty much irreplaceable for legacy systems ... So you don't get much else.

One of them is me.
I used to do FORTRAN IV and Fortran-77 a lot (I liked it). I also had to do a little COBOL and now, again, I have had to do some COBOL (reading the source code only) to fix a problem with the mainframe part of one of our systems.
Happily I do C# mostly - my favourite language. It used to be Rexx but now it's definitely C#.

I haven't recently done any FORTRAN so I've had to recluse myself from this option. However, I was *this* close to having to do some recently (long story, requires beer)

We have a desktop application that is commercially sold to businesses. It uses COBOL for much of it's older processing of binary data storage files. Then we have Delphi for a front end. And then we use C# for all the new stuff (integrations, new features, etc.), which requires a COM interface with the Delphi. We actually embed the C# UI into the Delphi UI via OLE. Fun!

I'm still in the BCS FORTRAN SIG (in fact it is the only BCS SIG that I am a member of) but it looks very foreign to me as it has changed a lot since I last used it, probably at the end of the last millennium. It was my first High Level Language (early 1970s) and it was also how I met my wife (she had to learn it at Uni and was struggling, so I was called in to help). Suffice to say, she passed and we've just celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary.
