My problem is that I still can't see clearly what advantage .NET and C# will bring me... I'm a freelance C++ developer doing mostly business utility-applications for big companies (so I don't do huge programs, only the smaller ones that can be used outside the corporate framework) and frankly, I see no advantage in C#.

I expect that eventually, some managers will start demanding C# development once the MS buzz-machine has stuffed their heads with .NET propaganda, but so far, I haven't encountered an application that could not be written in C++ (eventually using MFC) or that took an incredible effort making me wish for a new development platform.

I would really like to see a poll where developers are asked which feature of C# they are craving for. I can not imagine that language independence would be number 1... nor pointer absence or yet another garbage collector...
