Just testing the forums?? Yeah, they've worked for over 10 years now. You're a little late to do any real testing.

Oh, and if you where really testing the forums, you should have posted something to the effect in your message. Then it just would have been deleted without incident.

I was not testing codeproject man !!! I was checking the flow to develop it my self. Just stay away... Do your work ... Seems you are totally a wreck.

I am trying to build a Http Proxy Server

It has this line of code

IPHostEntry entry = Dns.Resolve(Host); // Host = "www.google.com"

This causes exception
[System.Net.Sockets.SocketException] = {"The requested name is valid, but no data of the requested type was found"}

But when I run the same line of code in a stand alone application, it works fine

IPHostEntry entry = Dns.Resolve("www.google.com");
Console.WriteLine(entry.AddressList[0].ToString());

What is wrong here ?

Where is the first line running?

Did you try debugging and checking what is the name of the host?

is it http://www.google.com or www.google.com?

is there a security permission required to access internet?

It is just www.google.com

As I said before, this line of code is part of my http proxy server

The server can be run in two ways:

1. Debug Mode from the IDE
2. Release Mode as the compiled program.

If it is working in the stand alone program, and you are getting the problem in the different project (case 1), then it is really a matter of checking different options in your program.

I can see why this error may happen between debug and release versions.

The stand alone applications works fine, so I guess this should too. I have given all required secuirty permissions

can you please double check if this Host name is the same as "www.google.com" and not "http://www.google.com" or something else? check it while debugging.

if still the same, you need to provide some code so that we can test it.

It could be the upstream DNS provider. You can either retry a few times, or cache previous entries.

I need to do a server application, which runs a process at a time of day, in c #. is possible to make a web application or other wich do that...

I can not touch more than the web application server

Then you have a severe problem. If all you can make is a web app, there is nothing that will trigger the app to run. Depending on requirements, this is normally a Console or Windows Forms app that you launch using the Windows Task Scheduler. You could also write a service that does this.

A web app is not suitable for a task that has to be launched at a certain time.

You can make an exe and create a task that runs it a specific time of day.

Hi All,

I'm creating a web application in ASP.NET and c#. What I'm trying to do is create a vertical menu similar to the blue one in this link:

I've created these menus in the past but in just a plain HTML page not ASP.NET. When I try to apply the same format to the unorder list the look isn't the same so I was trying to create it using LinkButtons like so:

The problem I'm having is the border of the subMenu is showing up twice, i'm not sure why but I know the padding is linked to it.

How do I get it so the border only shows on the outer edge of the linkButtons (subMenu items) and so only one border is shown?

Any help would be great.
