I've gone back and forwards on this for a while and I found having both simply made it so I wouldn't read either.
So my decision was:
On the "Active" tab you see who was last active.
On the other tabs you see who posted.
I was going to have 2 columns but there simply wasn't room. I was also going to leave just the poster's name, but for the active tab I really wanted to reward those who were active on each question - the ones doing the actual work.
My final thought was: what does it tell you if you know the name of the poster? A serious question, this one, and one that I started thinking pointed to a decision to not show poster's names at all. Possibly.

Visited link colorization is gone. Intentional?
Personal opinion: It's better to have colorization of already visited links in Q&A.

It was getting messy with too many colours: blue, grey, maroon.

When I view 'My Posts', isin't it redundant to show posters name?
Though it doesn't matter as we have enough space out there, but just not much of significance.

Yes, but consistent with the rest of the UI, and if it's a post that you're a co-author on, then both names will appear there.
Not that we provide a GUI in which to do that yet...

All of that makes sense. It is probably me being old and reactionary.
The first Q I looked at was this[^] one. I looked at it without checking who the poster was. When I exited I saw Chris Maunder where I expected to see the poster and just found it 'odd'. 
I also should have mentioned this in the original message but I'm not seeing the 'open in new tab/window' widget. My connection is playing up a bit so they may just not be loading for me but I found them useful, so if they are missing, can we have them back please.

I'm open to ideas on how to show everything while keeping things clean. Maybe just stick to the poster? Maybe to none...
As to the open in a new window, I removed them shift+click does the same thing and all they do is add unnecessary payload.
I guess I could add them via javascript...

Knowing the poster's name can be polite.
It also allows for more interaction between OP/Responder/Commenters.

You'll always see full poster and editor details on the page hosting the question itself.
Just thought that having a comprehensive breakdown on the Question page rather than on the gateway page would be a good idea

It Implies more importance to views and scores than it does to the questions.
It looks too 'busy'.
There is too much information at that level, and whilst stats can be useful, they should be more unobtrusive as a first page item, and perhaps have the more comprehensive breakdown on the Question page rather than on the gateway page.
And all the tabs as separate blocks underneath spoil the general readability.
Just my 2d.

Having the answer count (an important metric for those browsing questions to see which need some lovin') on the right was too much of a separation. Bringing it to the left made it trivial to connect answer count and question.
Leaving the view count on the right looked...odd. Removing it would have caused howls of protest (though I'm still tempted). Removing the vote count and replacing it with a single star if it's upvoted seemed, to me, a reduction in noise and a devaluing of the importance of scores.

Readability of the question, or readability of the tags that are a decider for many as to whether they'll read the question? Suggestions? Dim the box?

Remember - this is a PG site, and the "too much information" rule also applies.

Well, I answersed a couple, and my user ID doesn't appear after doing so. I also edited a couple of times, and it doesn't show up there either.

Using IE7 on Vista...
At the bottom of the page where it shows "Page 1 [1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8...]"
There's some sort of weird overlay thing happening, and the first few numbers insize the bracket are overlayed with other numers. Going to the next page(s) doesn't appear to fix it.
EDIT =========
For a second (if I'm fast enough), I see that it starts out correctly by saying this:
Page 1 of n [1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10]
But then some refromatting event occurs, and the bracketed numbers slide to the left so that it looks like this:
Page 1###### 5 6 7 8 9 10]
Where the ###### indicates an overlayed character.

The CSS and much of the layout has been updated, so maybe a Ctrl+F5 will help. In IE compatibility mode (== IE7 standard) it's all good for me.
