Hi all,
Using javascript how to get the TD id values using the TR id that should work in all browsers.
For Example:

I believe he is trying to retrieve the ID itself whereas this method would require the ID.

A little DOM jugglery using nextElement and nextSibling from document.getElementById of TR ID should get this TD ID.

Hello all.
So I have this COM component I created in order to perform some validations of an ASP page. This validation is done through VBScript in the client side, and calls my component.
Everything works fine, but just one thing. When I first load my IE browser, it appears this "to help protect your security, IE has restricted this webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access your computer". If I click on it and allow the blocked content, everything works fine.
Now, I wished to remove this thingy automatically. I read that I could change the settings in the IE. Still, I wished I had not to, since this component is running on an intranet and I shouldn't change settings for the entire members of the intranet.
So, I started googling about and found some resources. Particularly, I found this article[^] on MSDN that explains how to do what I want. I did follow the instructions given and it's not working for me. This could be because either my component is just a COM, not an ActiveX; or because since the article didn't explained what the CLSID_SafeItem was, I'm passing a wrong value; or perhaps I haven't sacrificed enough goats.
So, any idea on what am I missing here?

Sorry, i don't. I'd be saddened if it was possible to deploy ActiveX controls without explicitly putting the page hosting them into the trusted sites category, but not terribly surprised.
I've gotta ask though; is there a particular reason you can't just use JS for the client-side validation? Using an ActiveX control for this purpose seems like... extreme overkill. Alternately (if you're not at all comfortable with JS for instance...), IE can run VBScript directly - just use a different language attribute on the <script> tag.

Yes, there is. The customer has this USB-like thingies[^] that they use for encryption and such. They requested that the webapp, which approves some important purchase request documents, should verify that the user has this item plugged in. Furthermore, since such things provide the user ID, the log in must be validated against it.
The way for doing so is using the Microsoft Cryptography API. So, since AFAIK I cannot access Win32 APIs from a script, I created this COM component so that we can do such validation (and obviously it must be running on the client side). It all works fine (after the user allows it to run, of course), only that such message is being displayed.

Aside from the aforementioned article, I found this[^] one. Essentially, I just needed to add the component's CLSID to the registry:

The IE has to get a confidence regarding your ActiveX Control. Did you sign it with a valid CodeSigning Certificate?

What like a 15 second delay? You're kidding right? Perhaps you would consider studying the technology you work with so you can understand how it works and why? Or you could continue to drag and drop magical things onto other magical things that you know nothing about, whatever floats your boat.

I gave him an answer in my first reply, one that I thought and still do was very likely correct.
I guess this is one place we differ. I didn't consider my suggestion that he study the technology to be slamming him. That he was wasting his time by assuming there is a bug in library authored by people that actually know what they are doing rather than assuming he created the bug in his code or flaw in his approach. But then he decided that my reply wasn't good enough for him, you know my freely given time and thoughts and he should flame me up for it. So I returned fire. I always will, I guess you can delete my account if you feel my determination not roll over and take it from idiots to be detrimental to the site.
Like I told someone the other day, the people on this site give information, opinions and time freely and are under no obligation. Therefore even if the reply you get is "The sky is red" you have no room to complain. Just keep your mouth shut and keep looking for better free help. This clown was perfectly free to decide that my advice was garbage and continue on his merry "I don't need to know anything" way, but he choose to berate me because he didn't like it. Well I still think it's some of the best advice he will ever get.

If his question was "How do I use modalpopupextender" then "RTFM" (or just vote the question down) is a valid response. But how many times have all of us tried to use something and something bizarre has happened so we start wondering "is there an issue with X?" It's not like bugs in frameworks are exactly a rare thing.
Seriously: if we lived in a world where we all went around saying "Go find out yourself" to every programming question then
(a) google would have even more money than it does,
(b) there'd be no questions on programming boards
(c) cats and dogs would be friends and telemarketing would be a capital offence.

I agree. I don't know how you found this thread but if you look at some of my posts most of them are that exact nature but I go find a link and provide them the link embedded in sarcasm, like: No. Nobody knows that, and if anyone did it certainly would not be Microsoft and the certainly would not <link>document it</link>
In this particular case I never considered for a second there would be a link to find about modalpopupextender implementing a 15 second delay. 
Now you may think that my sarcasm is for me, it's not, it's because in our line of work I firmly believe that learning how to use (and now find) documentation is as important a single aspect of becoming a capable developer as any other single issue. So my sarcasm is a manifestation of the old adage, "If you give a man a fish he will eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish he will eat for a lifetime". Just so you know I used to try and explain it to them without the sarcasm, it never seemed to work.

Merge questions. I see a question i recognize being asked today, pull up the one i'm thinking of in the FAQ for that forum (a wiki-editable list of questions and answers), and hit "merge" - the question now redirects to the canonical q&a, with the latest person asking added to the "asked by..." list for that question, and notified via email that a reply is ready.
Two advantages: 1) gets folks used to looking at the FAQ, 2) reduces effort involved in answering oft-repeated questions.
Two big problems: 1) does nothing to prevent stupid (lack-of-detail/focus) questions from cluttering up the forum, 2) brutally hard to prevent abuse.

I don't believe encourage is the correct word. I mean if they can't be bothered, f um. They will always be worthless anyway.
Perhaps educate is a better choice. I went to college so education, reading, studying, analysis, these all became second nature to me. At this point I am so far removed from the concept of going to a forum and asking strangers rather than searching and reading that I can't even comprehend such a seemingly retarded mindset.
Anyway I think it's a catch-22 problem yes? I mean we only have text as a means of communication, so since them choosing not to read is the problem. Maybe nano tech can save them, I mean we can inject some common sense nanobots into them.
