In the US there is a huge subculture that continually disparage the vaccine (and its takers) in spite of the well-documented fact that it has saved millions of lives and reduced Covid's symptoms for a large subset of those who survived the ordeal who received the vaccine. I believe he is talking about those people. They can be quite obnoxious.

To reinvent the wheel by going back in time and assassinating the bloke who did it the first time.
I figure I'll make a fortune out of the royalties this time round.

I've got some bad news for you, my friend. Royalties didn't exist back then. You'd probably have to kill a LOT of people to bring the invention to royalties time.
