Hi,
What I would like to do is to monitor the whole registry in win xp. The best would be to receive an event when a registry key has changed/created/received but in a way that I could figure out which key was it.
So far I subscribed for quite a few RegistryTreeChangeEvent to see the tree changes in every hive. But the problem with this is that in RegistryTreeChangeEvent I couldn't figure out which key changed just the hive and the rootpath. I tried to find the change in the registry but it's very time and resource consuming.
My next idea would be to register for RegistryKeyChangeEvent and RegistryValueChangeEvent for every registry key but I'm guessing it would have a huge overhead.
So if anybody knows any way to receive events when something changes in the registry or how to monitor the whole registry at all then please tell me!
And I have read some articles here which were useful in general but it didn't solve my problem:
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/system/WMI_RegistryMonitor.aspx
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/system/registrymonitor.aspx
Thanks in advance,
Geri

Hi Geri,
I think you may find something using "Windows Hooks" , you need to search for it , i am assuming that if registry value is changed a message or notification should be sent to the system , we can use "Windows Hooks" to get this message form the system's message queue (i am not not sure about the method , just try to mention a possible solution) , the above two methods u mentioned do pooling on to registry , which not good always

Hi,
First of all thanks for your reply! I looked for some reading on the windows hooks you mentioned, but unfortunately I haven't had much luck. The thing is that I couldn't find any hooks which would give information about the registry. Actually I found these hook types:
* WH_CALLWNDPROC and WH_CALLWNDPROCRET Hooks
* WH_CBT Hook
* WH_DEBUG Hook
* WH_FOREGROUNDIDLE Hook
* WH_GETMESSAGE Hook
* WH_JOURNALPLAYBACK Hook
* WH_JOURNALRECORD Hook
* WH_KEYBOARD_LL Hook
* WH_KEYBOARD Hook
* WH_MOUSE_LL Hook
* WH_MOUSE Hook
* WH_MSGFILTER and WH_SYSMSGFILTER Hooks
* WH_SHELL Hook
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms644959(VS.85).aspx
but none of them looks useful for me. If you have any other ideas or links where I could read more then it would be very much appreciated.
cheers
Geri

Exactly what it says. Private are private, public are public. Its a basic programming concept.

'non'?
A readonly field cannot, by definition, be written. A private readonly field cannot be read too (only an instance of the class defining such field can) while (for instance) a public readonly field can be (publically!) read.
If the Lord God Almighty had consulted me before embarking upon the Creation, I would have recommended something simpler.

This is going on my arrogant assumptions. You may have a superb reason why I'm completely wrong.

Private fields are trickier to access by the public.

You're mistaken. I didn't tell you anything. If you want to continue a discussion with someone, reply on that thread.

Are you sure your PDF is well formed

You are an idiot.
1 - if you registered with this email, you would get any reply emailed to you
2 - putting your email on a public forum is a good way to get spam
3 - why would we email someone who wants our help but apparently doesn't value this forum enough to read it ?

I don't know how use this library.
I 'll advise you to use the iTextSharp library which is well know by a large number of developpers.
It seems to be easier to get tutorial on the net...

Hi All,
I have a file to send to client rtu. I want to display progress bar while sending file. How it should be implemented in windows form in c#.
|
|
|
|
|
Well, the progress bar should run on another thread. I assume you get some sort of callback as the file is sent to tell you how much has been sent ?

for (int j = 0; j < AppCookie.Values.Count; j++)

subkeyName = Server.HtmlEncode(AppCookie.Values.AllKeys[j]);
subkeyValue = Server.HtmlEncode(AppCookie.Values[j]);
output.Append("Subkey name = " + subkeyName + " ");

}
}
else

output.Append("Value = " + Server.HtmlEncode(AppCookie.Value) +

}
CacheMsg.Text = output.ToString();
}
Through above coding we try to store more than two cookies but we didn't achieved.....so is there any way to store more then two cookies

First of all which Framework did you used ? Does the client system having the same framework?
Does all dll present in the Client System?
Try to build a setup project, Add all dependency with the setup and then install it on client system then try.

Hi all,
I have HTML code like: "". how can I get the final local path that this web handler generated or other methods to get a reference to the final image?
Thanks,
|
|
|
|

You can't find out the path on the server. If you're running this code on your server, then you should be in the ASP.NET forum.

Dear All,
I had the following code tested in my test environment, it works fine in my test environment
private bool CheckRcvFileLocation(string rcvLocation, ForeignSystem foreignSystem)
{
Uri uri1 = new Uri(rcvLocation);
HttpWebRequest request = (HttpWebRequest)HttpWebRequest.Create(uri1);
request.Credentials = foreignSystem.NetworkCredential;
request.Method = "HEAD";
HttpWebResponse response = null;
try
{
System.Console.WriteLine("test2");
if (request == null)
{
System.Console.WriteLine("Test2a");
}
else
{
System.Console.WriteLine("Test2b");
}
response = (HttpWebResponse)request.GetResponse();
System.Console.WriteLine("Test3");
return (response.StatusCode != HttpStatusCode.NotFound);
}
catch (WebException e)
{
response = (HttpWebResponse)e.Response;
if (response.StatusCode == HttpStatusCode.NotFound)
return false;
else
throw;
}
finally
{
if (response != null)
response.Close();
}
}
however when I put it into the real world, the "Test3" never gets executed, instead it returns me "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" as soon as the code goes to "response = (HttpWebResponse)request.GetResponse();"
Are there any settings that i need to aware to get these codes working in production environment?
regards
Andie
