It's really impossible to help much based on this. If it works on one server and not another, then the other server is not configured properly, or if it's only visible when you're on the machine, then it could just not be configured to be visible outside the machine, due to firewalls, etc.

Any specific error message to the webservice? From localhost or to the same system in IE, the logged account might be doing magic. From other systems, the web service might have encountered 401 Unauthorized unless an 'Anonymous Authentication' for the directory was given in Inetmgr.

Hi all,
I have one "aspx" page and one "usercontrol(ascx)" page.In the usercontrol page i have one HTML table which i use to show data when the usercontrol is loaded.I'm loading the data into the table using a javasript which is registered in the page load of the usercontrol.
In the javascript i'm now referring the Html table as "document.all(""html_cart"").insertRow();"
But when the javascript is executed i'm getting the error
"document.all().insertrow(); is null or not an object"
I even tried with "document.form[0].Usercontrolname_html_cart.insertRow();"
where USercontrolname is the name for the usercontrol page.I used this "Usercontrolname1_html_cart", bcoz in the viewsource i saw that the usercontrol is referred as Usrcontrolname1.
Please any one suggest the correct method to refer the html table in the javascript, so that i can add rows and data into the rows
Thank you in advance
regards
KC

I would try referring to the table as
document.getElementById("html_cart")
which is more cross-browser freindly....
Why the double-quotes in yours? Unless, of course, you're building this up as a string in your code-behind...

You'll probably find that the id has been prefixed with _ctl0_....check the source, or alternatively, use the IE Dev toolbar to find the correct mangled id...

All,
I am trying to simulate an MDI (Multiple Document Interface) in a web page/application using absolutely positioned elements. It worked wonderfully until I put an <object type="application/pdf"> into one of the "windows". The reader object wants to always be on top thus not allowing other "windows" to become the "active window" and be on top.
I have searched both the web and the Adobe site for paramters like the flash <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> that allows other objects to appear on top without luck.
Does anyone know of any parameters or other means of getting a reader plugin object to recognize and use/conform to z-indexing?
Thank you in advance.
Respectfully,
Robert

I'm pretty sure that you can't embed PDF fies in a web page, they can only be opened on their own. So, Acrobat will always take over the page and open the PDF document.

Thank you for your reply.
The <object type="application/pdf" src="path/filename.pdf" width="widthValue" height="heightValue"> allows you to embed a PDF file using the system default pdf reader which is usually Adobe reader.
You can see this at http://www.sellingpower.com/test/sf_advert/index.asp. Click on "Selling Power Demographics" to see the problem I am referring to. The objects themselves obey the layering stipulations as is evidenced by the borders of the "windows." But the <object> is always on top.
Thank you again.
Respectfully,
Robert

I suspect the only way you can do this is using an iframe.
Incidentally, the URL you gave doesn't show any PDF for me, and the page has several errors (including one on the object). You should probably fix the errors first and see if that improves your problem.

Thank you for pointing out the warnings on the page. I will look into them. Most of them are acceptable warnings about ampersands in some of the URLs.
You have to click on "Selling Power Demographics" to get the two "windows" to pop up. They are actually hidden, absolutely-positioned elements.
Respectfully,
Robert

Any idea if IIS 7.0 is backward compatible? Any application which runs on IIS 5.0 or IIS 6.0 will run on IIS 7.0?
I have Vista Business edition and it comes with IIS 7.0. My web application which is developed in .NET 2.0 and is IIS 6.0 compatible so works well on XP, when I tried to run the msi setup of my app on vista, my setup comes with a message, that it's interrupted so would be closed. I have .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 installed on my machine
I tried another web app setup which is developed in 1.1 and when i run the setup, it comes with a message http://machinename/mywebappname is not found or web server not running....
Can some one guide me? I just want to see what i will have to do to make these setups work on vista as they are working fine on my XP machine

FIrst uninstall the IIS 7.0 and try to run your application using IIS 6.0. And if there also you get the same error means let me know what the error message is, so that only we can be specific.

Thanks for the response but you can't install IIS 6 using Windows Vista Features. Also I am not sure is it possible to install IIS 6 on Vista on not. I will try this at the end. What if i want my application to run to IIS 7 without changing it. IIS 7.0 provides IIS6 Management compatibility component for backbard compatability which i Installed. After that my setup started working and it installed the application as well. Now i am stuck with configuring Integrated Windows Secruity in IIS 7.0. My application doesn't allow anonymous access but used only windows authentication. I am only able to see three options in the IIS 7.0 Authentication. Anonymous, ASP.NET and Forms. i tried different combinations but my web pages are not opening... either i get HTTP 401.2 or HTTP 401.3 error. It's says unauthorized user or authentication headers are not correct ....
Any idea? I am using WINDOWS Vista Business Edition and i have installed everything under IIS except Fax services.

Hi friends,
Right now, i am using asp.net pags in windows 2000 server operating system. If possible to configure .htaccess file in my application. Why i want this, my website url is display in address bar full url. For example,
"www.mydomain.com/products/invoice.aspx?InvoiceNo=100". So, i avoid to configure this file then can i use following format "www.mydomain.come" or "www.mydomain.com/products" only. I know one option to use Frame. But i am not like to use frame.
So, my query is,
1) can i use .htaccess file in my asp.net web application?
2) If yes, how to configure and implement this process?
Please give your suggestion.
Thanks in advance

As far as I know .htaccess files are only for Apache web server (and some others like it), not IIS. You can use URL rewriting, either through IIS or your own HTTP Module but I don't know any specifics.

If you can't be any good, at least try not to be the worst.
Buy a book, or browse the web, and study. If you still have questions I am sure there are many here would be glad to help, but don't expect others to do your work.

Actually, I never studied any form of computing at school - I am completely self-taught in programming and web develpoment. I bought books, I browsed the web, I studied all by myself.
I have helped others many times on this forum. Asking for help on a specific point is one thing, but asking such a general question such as yours, including a request for code, is just laziness on your part.
Study, or shut up, yourself.

Yes, ok, I'm sorry, but I do get frustrated...
Go to Google (which is free, you know...) and type "asp.net send email" in the search box and you will find plenty of examples, and tutorials with code, on how to do what you want. If you still need help I, and plenty others here, will be only to glad to help.
Good luck

Mohammed Amine wrote: say thnx to ALLAH cuz you have money
I have money because I have earned it, not because Allah gave it to me. I don't give money to beggars who stand there with their hand out saying "I'm poor - give me your money". If they make ANY effort to earn it - maybe by playing a battered old tin whistle, even badly - I am prepared to help (I will pay for their entertaining me, in effect), but they must make some effort to help themselves first, otherwise they can starve to death for all I care.
I know many people will find that offensive, but I find the opposite view equally offensive. Such is the difference between men.
