Please Try
1) Use BinaryFormatter insted of XMLFormatter
2) Set in web config file of Webservice
httpRuntime maxRequestLength="2097150"
Hope this helps.

How "BinaryFormatter" will be in use. We are passing a XML as string to the web service. And webservice then read the String and process it.
Do you mean to say we need to send the binary instead of String.

Anyway, Try to Encrypt the Data you are sending via Webservice and then
Decrypt it on the other side using BinaryFormatting.

Is it possible to get a response from an ascx page by using an Ajax call in a HMTL page? Does anyone know of a good example they can point me to?
I am using:
JavaScript,
Prototype 1.6 Ajax framework
ASP.net (vb.net)
I am trying to extract the content of a html page that is contained in a div tag with an ID of "content". I can do this OK with a normal Prototype Ajax.Request and some javascript manipulation, but I now need to do some work on the hyperlinks in the returned content so that they work from the new location.
I can get the content and fix the links in an ascx control but am now wondering if I can call directly to the ascx page or if I need an aspx page between them.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

a sample could be helpful.
practically i think there will be a problem if the ajax is calling an ascx. the ascx will be embedded in some page thereby causing the response going to the page.

Yes, I am coming to that conclusion myself.
I can get an aspx page to respond, but it has all of the html and head tags.
I can strip this out using JavaScript, but it seems to be defeating the purpose of the Ajax call.
It would be nice just to get back the html fragment I am after. Then I can use Prototype's Ajax.Updater function to insert the fragment where I want.
What I am after is some way to get asp.net to return a html fragment to my (non asp.net) Ajax call.

There is no such thing as an ascx page. An ascx is a control. There is no way to call a control out side of a page.
Also, we have an ASP.NET forum

Yes, I know that ascx is a control. It was a bit of poor wording on my question to refer to it as a page. The crux of my question was can you call a control from outside of an aspx page via Ajax and I have come to the conclusion that you can not.
I will pursue this further in the ASP.net forum.
Cheers and thanks for your help.

Do you know how to access server controls using Javascript?

First, you need to store the client side Id of this control in javascript as a variable. Then you can use this to call 'getElementById', and finally, you can set it's properties.

i know that all since i have been working in javascripting for long . bUT could not enable and disable image control on selection of radio button.

Well, perhaps you need to word your question better then.
it's still straightforward. Add an onclick to the radio button, which calls a javascript method that does everything I said before.

As you don't show any code, I have to guess. My guess is that you have mixed up server control properties with client element properties.
The javascript property for this is disabled , not enabled .
Despite everything, the person most likely to be fooling you next is yourself.

thanks...
atlast something that is useful..
additionally i would like to mention that the server controls when changed in Javascript will obviously retain their original property after a postback

Hi,
I am having a problem that I have been trying to solve for the last 2 weeks. This might be seen in many travel sites like lastminute.com. The situation is simple. I need an indeterminate progress bar. I enter the search criteria/parameters (From/To Date & Destination) in page ‘A’. I click the search button now. I need to be transferred to Page ‘B’, which is empty but consists of a progress bar like image displaying any message and then I need to be transferred to page ‘C’ where the results will be displayed. I use the term “Indeterminate”, coz the progress bar is displayed based on the time taken (which can vary) to display the results and it not a fixed time interval(Usually with thread. sleep type) like u see in many sites. I am using VS 2005 + MS SQL 2005 + ASP.NET 2.0 + AJAX 1.0. Please help me out.

i think in these cases you cant know how much time the query will take.
better is to show a progress bar image..which keeps on resetting itself every now and then..and as you said move to page C when query returns !
this is what we see on most sites.

Hello,
I am running a customized Blogspot HTML theme on our Blogger site. The address is www.essaychayzee.com, and the problem I'm having is this:
When posting a picture, blogger automatically re-sizes the photo to fit your blog's parameters. This is fine, however, when a user or visitor clicks the photo, it shows the photo at full size as it's supposed to. The problem is that the back button, IE or Firefox will not work. You can click 40 times and it keeps refreshing the same photo.
If you click any other external link from the blog, it works fine. You can visit the external page, and then press the back button, and you will return to the page that you were at previously.
The problem only seems to happen with the blogger photos.
I've included the link to a txt file with the code to our blog below.
I appreciate any help. Thank you kindly.

If the back button is behaving strangely, it's because script in the page is causing it to, by navigating forward again, probably.
