Of course we dont need it .But i was just stressing on the word "Timer Control". In a sense just like your Forms "Timer control" it can fire a event and run a code behind.
Thanks

Hi,
I have written an user control with a gridview control, that does select, edit, update, cancel functionality. I have a question regarding the RowUpdating event. I bind my grid at runtime to a generic list<>, therefor I can't use the oldvalues, newvalues or the keys as you need a datasource control with an update command to be able to use these dictionaries. Another thing is that I have the autogeneratefields = true (as I am creating a generic gridview) and therefor I cannot use the gridview.columns[].extractvaluesfromcell as the columns count = columns created at design time to add the select, edit, update, cancel buttons. I have used the following code:
((TextBox)gridview.Rows[e.RowIndex].Cells[5].Controls[0]).Text which results in "". However the old values are still available. The newly typed data not available.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanx

Hi All,
I have two web user controls on the same web form. When I click a button
from one user control, I want to pass a message to the second user control
and display it. How can I do it? How can I notify one user control of changes
in another user control on the same web form?
Thanks.

define property in user control and then pass value in webusercontrol tag that appears on the webform in tag u will find that defined property

Just an idea, but maybe you can raise an event in the first user control, handle it in the aspx page and then set a property or execute a method in the second user control from within the eventhandler in the aspx page

hi friends
When I went the memory usage (through task manager) for a particular application pool, initally it shows let us assume 10000K. After each instance of web application, it keeps on incrementing, and if one closes the brower or log out the application the memomy usage remains the same, its not getting decreases as expected.
Is there any way to release the memory what the particular instance of web appln. uses when one logs out or closes the browser.

1) There is no way we can determine from server side user closed the browser or not.
2) You can set the Application pool to recycle itself based on various citerias so that it will relase memmory once it reached a predefined value.( Applicatio Pool> right click properties > Recycling)
3) Question : Do you have any idea how your application is filling up this much of memory ?.. You can also add a clean up script in the Session _end Event in the global.asa.
Note : This event will fire only if you are storing your session in InProc

Thanks Laddie.
But if we recycle manually, it will logout all the users.
Any other way to release the memory.
and how can we clean up in session_end event.. and one more thing
we are not using any session varaibles. We have an integrated application
and the session variables are created in asp page and that session variables v are using in our dot net page.

You dont have o do this manually. You can schedule it to get it run from the application pool pproperties.
What is criteria of loging out users if you are not storing nothing in session?
What i mean y cleaning up in Session_End is that in case you are using any COM objects or something you have a chance to relase them from memory.
Or may be force a GC.(Of course for GC is not recommened)
