What are you talking about ? Do you mean shopping cart ? Or do you mean a credit card ?
Yes, a session will time out, that's inevitable. You can store what someone has in their cart in a cookie, or in your database, if they need to log in to use it.

Are you using Impersonation in your application?
If so, it will work in the same network, will fail on other network.

Hi,
I posted this kind of thread a few days before as well although I got replies but unfortunately my problem is still there so here I am repeating my question. My requirement is that when user closes the browser window it should logout autmatically.
The problem is that I am new in Visual Studio 2005 (Asp.net 2.0) and a developer already made this, I am just updating it. I don't have any idea how new login system works in VS2005. I really don't know how he is storing or checking that whether user is login or not?
I have found following code in commonMaster page.
if (Properties.IsLoggedIn)
{
string cookieName = FormsAuthentication.FormsCookieName;
HttpCookie authCookie = Context.Request.Cookies[cookieName];
FormsAuthenticationTicket authTicket = FormsAuthentication.Decrypt(authCookie.Value);
MembershipUser mu = Membership.GetUser();
Properties.EndUserGUID = mu.ProviderUserKey.ToString().ToUpper();
DateTime expiration = authTicket.Expiration.AddSeconds(-90);
if (expiration < DateTime.Now)
{
mu.LastLoginDate = DateTime.Now;
Membership.UpdateUser(mu);
FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(Context.User.Identity.Name, true, "/");
}
}
If anybody knows about it please help me! Thanks. Bye.

Yes It is correct
kalyan_2416 wrote: this is not firing the event
It depends on where you wrote the above line. Have you wrote outlet_SelectedIndexChanged method ? How you understood that it is not firing event ? Make sure that controls autopostback is set to true.

Try this:
Add AutoPostBack="true"
<asp:dropdownlist id="ddlBrand" runat="server"
="" onselectedindexchanged="ddlBrand_SelectedIndexChanged" autopostback="true">

CheckBoxList will be rendered as several HTML input checkbox. View source the page and find checkbox names. It will be generated in sequential way. You can loop through it and get the objects.

I had written a example for you :
<br />
<script language="javascript"><br />
function Test(objSource)<br />
{<br />
for(var i = 0;i< objSource.childNodes.length;i++)<br />
{<br />
var obj = objSource.childNodes[i];<br />
if(obj.tagName != null <br />
&& obj.tagName.toLowerCase() == "input" <br />
&& obj.type.toLowerCase() == "checkbox")<br />
{<br />
alert(obj.id);<br />
}<br />
else<br />
{<br />
Test(obj);<br />
}<br />
}<br />
}<br />
<br />
function GetIDs()<br />
{<br />
var objSource = document.getElementById("CheckBoxList1");<br />
Test(objSource);<br />
}<br />
</script>

Hi,
I have an asp:Repeater and need to add an asp:DropDownList in it (i.e. nested).
The asp:Repeater works but not the asp:DropDownList.
<code>
Sub R1_ItemDataBound(Sender As Object, e As RepeaterItemEventArgs)
Dim ds As New DataSource
Dim data As New DataSet
data = ds.GetDataFunction
If (e.Item.ItemType = ListItemType.Item) Or _
(e.Item.ItemType = ListItemType.AlternatingItem) Then
Dim a As DropDownList = e.Item.FindControl("ddl")
a.DataSource = data1
a.DataValueField = "ID"
a.DataTextField = "name"
a.DataBind
End If
End Sub
</code>
And the html code
<code>
<asp:DropDownList id="ddl" runat="server" OnItemDataBound="R1_ItemDataBound" />
</code>
The DropDownList shows but it is not populated. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

sandrider wrote: a.DataSource = data1
Use like,
a.DataSource = data1.Tables(0)<br />
<br />
or <br />
<br />
a.DataSource = data1.Tables(TABLE_NAME)
DataSet is a collection of Data Table, but you can assign the DataTable as a DataSource. Try the above code.

Hi Venkatesh,
Thanks for your help but it didn't work. I've found the problem.

I think You should bind "R1_ItemDataBound" event on the ItemDataBound of the repeater control.so that dropdownlist will get populated for each item in the repeater control.
You made a mistake by binding "R1_ItemDataBound" to the OnItemDataBound of the DropDownList "ddl"

Is there any error displaying when you right click and select view designer?
If yaa then first solve it and then try.
Otherwise I don't know.
