You need to grant the ASPNET machine account, which your site is running under in IIS, read permissions to the file. You can do this in Windows Explorer by right-clicking on the file and selecting the 'Security' tab.

Hey there,
I am new to this language and have been looking at the example program at the link below:
http://www.codeproject.com/dotnet/twaindotnet.asp
but what i wanted was when the image is returned from the scanner, is to convert it to a Bitmap. I have tried numerous ways to convert the ImgPtr but get an ExternalException at runtime. The example seems to use another class to save and display the image, but I would prefer to handle a Bitmap.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Pete

You're probaqbly getting back a HBITMAP, there is a Bitmap.FromHAndle or Bitmap.FromHBITMAP, isn't there ?

What method are you using to create the tables?

Hey all,
Actually i should say that i have a Decrypting problem !
I am trying to use a certificate to prove the client/server identity in my application. I was sending a welcome message from the server to the client, encryption/decryption worked smoothly, but this message is just a string like the client number, name of the computer where the server is running and all that...
Now when i am doing this:
Publisher publisher = new Publisher(new Init().Certificate());
byte[] message = Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(new Encrypting().Encrypt(new Init().GetRawCertData(), password));
....
and sending it over the "Network", i am getting a bad data exception... something about a wrong character in the Base64 String.
I am sending fixed length bytes[] and when i am just sending strings it works. But when i try to change the type of data to send it messes up.
My logic to Encrypt/Decrypt is create an instance of the algorithm to use, i use the login password to encrypt/decrypt and i init the key and IV of the algorithm with them, a memory stream and the crypto stream... and return an array of bytes.
Maybe i am doing something wrong, any idea of how to use the certificate better, I am extremely new to Certificates and Digital Signatures. I tried SSL Stream but i could not make work .
Thanks in advance !
Best regards!!!

HI guys,
I have resize picturebox (say picMain) to the size of form.There are many picturebox inside picMain. Now I am moving child
picturebox ( on mouse_move event) on picMain. I am getting refresh problem while dragging child picturebox.
I had use Invalidate(),Update() and Refresh() method of current movable child picturebox but not getting precise solution. It seems like child picturebox ghost is following it. Child picturebox takes more times to refresh.
Instead of picMain if I work with main form then it work very well. I think picturebox has less ability to refresh faster compare
to form (am I write??).
I want same effect as what we dragged item from visual studio toolbox and move around in the form.(its so smooth)
pls give the solution
thanks in advance.

Sounds like you read an article and should have posted your question in the forum below that article.

How would I tell if a textbox's text is a number or string? Thanks.

TextBox.Text is always a string; you can get its numeric value if YourNumericType.TryParse()
returns true.

Does anybody know how to find the memory usage for an object instance or instances? Specifically, I'm trying to figure out how much overall memory it takes to retreive data from the database and populate the object instance in two different ways. I attempted to get the memory usage of an object instance by calling System.GC.GetTotalMemory() before and after the object creation and take the difference, but it didn't work in some cases. Below is some example code on what I'm trying to do:
<br />
public int FindMemoryUsage()<br />
{<br />
SqlDataReader reader;<br />
<br />
int memoryBefore = System.GC.GetTotalMemory(false);<br />
reader =
The result of the function should return the memory usage of the reader which is dependent on the results returned from the database. However, I tested this by comparing the memory usages between retreiving just a few records and a whole lot of records from the database and the result was approximately the same. Can anyone explain to me what I'm doing wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated!!
P.S. - Why does using the 'code' tag fail to indent anything?

The problem is that the GC may not release memory when it's no longer used. So if you run your first test and it causes your application to jump to 100MB, then your next test only needs 50MB, your application will probably still have 100MB allocated. Depending on how much free space you already have, you may not see any differences between running your two tests even if the "large" test is performed second. Basically, the GC memory totals are not a good way to detect memory usage.
You can use performance counters[^] to try to track down which test is better. You can also use Son Of Strike (SOS) to get the data from the raw objects. The blog entries here[^] and here[^] are a good place to start.
Take care,
Tom

I'm looking for an C# API, subscription-based service, or database that will allow me to pass a zip or city/state/zip with a distance parameter i.e. ("redmond","wa","98052",20) and get back the surrounding cities within the specified distance, without getting into some kind of gps coding nightmare. Does anyone know of such a thing?

By shipping the DirectX runtime installer with it and making sure that any interop dlls that get build with your proejct are included.
