Hi leppie,
The GUI of this site looks fancy, but a little messy information on this site. This site is specialized for what topics?

Title says it all really, is it possible to call a .NET 2 library from a .NET 1.1 library?
The obvious and immediate answer is no, as the 1.1 library will be running in a 1.1 AppDomain that does not include the 2.0 framework. However is there anyway to "bridge" across, maybe remoting/custom socket server?

Haven't tested Remoting (although I think it is possible) but low level socket communication is definitely functioning.

I mean, why not.

I like the cut of your jib, however....
When I find a hack frig solution this will be deployed out to over 10 thousand servers and unfortunately the current build of these does not have MSMQ installed. Installing this as part of the deployment process is not feasible.

I am writing one simple C# application; which is used to read contents of web page.
While reading from the URL which first requires to log in.
Is there anyway that i can set user and password, and can read data from this page.
Thanks,
Perry

Which class are you using to read webpages? If it is HttpWebRequest, then have a look at Credentials property.
|
|
|

I tried setting Credentials with my user and password .. still it reads login page ...
|
|

|

I am not sure but try setting PreAuthenticate property to true.

No success with this too ...

is there any way to Read/Write to a Column Description in a MSAccess Table?
example
Im writing an application for an industrial control that i have created a plugin for.
I want to be able to read from the comment for a column to use the information for setting certain events.
I am able to read/write to rows, columns,etc but unable to read the description and it would help me greatly.

Hi all,
I am developing a couple of web services for work. Most of the methods return custom classes but I want one of them to just return a 'string' (either "OK" or "NOTOK").
The problem is that, whilst with custom classes the webservice's XML's tags are named according to the variable name (for example: <hotelsummary><hotelid>5 ... where HotelSummary is a type but HotelID is the variable name), with strings the XML returned is <string>OK.
Is it possible to rename the tags to display, for example, <hotelcheck>OK instead of the datatype?
Thanks a lot.

Why not use bool then? Return True/false

I don't think you can rename it. I am not sure though.

First, unless you are planning on expanding your status messages later, I would suggest using a boolean.
Second, sounds like you might be able to use an enumeration for this:
public enum Status
{
OK,
NOTOK
}
Then you would be able to say Status.OK or Status.NOTOK
Hope this helps,
Chris

Hi Chris,
Yes thanks a lot. The enum was exactly what we needed, especially since we are able to expand the responses whenever needed now.

how can i use txtNoPersoneli when this is in other form?
|
|
|
|
|
If txtNoPersoneli's access modifier is public then you should be able to access it through otherforminstance.txtNoPersoneli
Better still, create events in otherform that are rasied when whatever your interested in with txtNoPersoneli occurs, and subscribe to these in the initial form.

i change to public,but yet i can not use that

You have to access it through an instance of the second form. For example, if the form is called Form2 then:
Form2 form2 = new Form2();
form2.txtNoPersoneli.Text = "Text";

Whoever univoted this - I agree that it's not best practice and if you look at my previous reply I did suggest using events (implies delegates too). The question in response to that from the OP was specifically on the unrecommended way, to which I gave an accurate and working response!

You change the access modifier to public, but it is not recommended as it breaks OO rules. Use delegates to communicate between forms. CP has an article on this subject.
|
|
|
|
|
listen,
you have to use delegates, search: transfer data between form here in codeproject.
you may want to drop the idea of using more than 1 form
use parentform/childform method
or
1form + 10usercontrols (usercontrols that load in form like page, i use it a lot) method
i use delegates, see the following exemple
(here i trigger a text msg FROM usercontrol IN form):
in userform
public delegate void Delegate_TransferPageInfo(string msg);
public event Delegate_TransferPageInfo Event_TransferPageInfo;
private void ToolStripButton_Add_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{...
Event_DriverPageInfo("ERROR: invalid birth date");
...}
in form
private void Form_Main_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{...
UserControl_DriverPage_Child.Event_DriverPageInfo += new UserControl_DriverPage.Delegate_DriverPageInfo(Page_Info);
...}
protected void Page_Info(string msg)
{
ToolStripStatusLabel_MainInfo.Text = msg;
}
can´t help you more!!!
