Change the culture. Of your application, or your system, or both
What OS are you using? Something Windowy? There's a "Regional Settings" applet in the Configuration Screen. Set the "ShortDate" there. Next, check if you're using the correct shortdate-format in your application.

I upgraded to vs2008. If I create a new program, it's OK, but the program I converted from VS2005 doesn't create any output from a console.writeline. What am I missing? ty

Unless you add special code to an app, the output from Console.WriteLine should go:
1. to the "output pane" when running inside Visual Studio
2. to a separate window (a "DOS console") otherwise
Which is it that doesn't work?
|
|
|
|
|
Doesn't show in the output pane (Show output from: debug)
|
|
|
|
|
debug output only shows in a debug build
warning: there probably even is a "debug" checkbox which you could uncheck
if you don't find the configuration manager, look for Tools/Options and:
- check "show all options"
- project and solutions: check "show advanced build options"

When start debugging in VB 2008,an error appear in a Sub although I still don't call this Sub.
Is VB 2008 compile all code in the class before Form is shown?

Hi,
I am trying to read a .txt file in vb6,
i have the following code
Private Sub Command1_Click()
' Get a free file number
nFileNum = FreeFile
' Open a text file for input. inputbox returns the path to read the file
Open "C:\Documents and Settings\Sudeep\My Documents\3.txt" For Input As nFileNum
lLineCount = 1
' Read the contents of the file
Do While Not EOF(nFileNum)
Line Input #nFileNum, sNextLine
'do something with it
'add line numbers to it, in this case!
sNextLine = sNextLine & vbCrLf
sText = sText & sNextLine
Loop
Text1.Text = sText
' Close the file
Close nFileNum
End Sub
this works however i seem to be missing one little thing.
I want to make the contents held in the .txt file to go on the text box horizontally. At the moment all the text seems to be in one massive line.
I have tried adding vbnewline, however that doesn't seem to do much, so i have resorted to some expert help.
Many thanks
Dan

The Textbox controls I know in .NET have a property "Multiline" that must be set true for it to accept multi-line text. I guess in your VB6 world there must be something similar.

Can anyone tell me what happen when i do following code?
SqlCommandBuilder1 = New SqlCommandBuilder(SqlDataAdapter1)
SqlCommand1.CommandText = "select * from phieumuonsach "
SqlDataAdapter1.InsertCommand = SqlCommandBuilder1.GetInsertCommand
SqlDataAdapter1.Update(DataSet1, "phieumuon")
|
|
|
|

Not enough information to answer the question with any meaning.
But, it looks like it's supposed to update the backing database with any changes in the phieumuon table in DataSet1.

First of all this is incorrect it seems that you don't know what you are doing there.
First what are you trying to Achieve here
SqlCommandBuilder1 = New SqlCommandBuilder(SqlDataAdapter1)
Does not make sense. Secondly you came up with this
SqlCommand1.CommandText = "select * from phieumuonsach "
This means you are telling your command object that you never declared that you will be using that SQl statement. and what kind of Command object is that (i dont know you did not state it)
thirdly cam up with this
SqlDataAdapter1.InsertCommand = SqlCommandBuilder1.GetInsertCommand
Here you are trying to tell the Adapter that you are going to use which Command for Insert. a bad way of doing it.
lastly
SqlDataAdapter1.Update(DataSet1, "phieumuon")
Here you are Updating the Dataset called "Dataset1" and that has a Datatable named "phieumuon"
if this is a Complete code then it will not compile because it does not make sense

Well, you have 2 choices:
a.) Buy a book on JavaFX, get the specs form your teacher, then do the work (if you problems with something, go here[])
OR
b.) drop the class and NEVER write another piece of code again.

|
|
|
|
Well, I suggest you start writing it! Noone is going to hand over their hard work for you to turn in as your own so you can pass your lazy ass through a class you don't deserve to pass.

I'm sure you do. Why you expect us to provide it, in response to a post in our VB forum, I am not sure.

Contact your client and tell them you are a liar, and offer a refund. Then apply for a job at McDonalds.
