I'm amazed at how many solutions come to me when there's a blast of nice warm water hitting my face.

There should be multiple options... I solve problems in different situations. Mostly on the way to or from work. But otherwise I figure things out in the shower or sometimes I wake up from a good night's rest with the answer.
Weird how these things work sometimes

You're quite right. I think of solotions in a lot of different situations too. I answered "Whan I'm at work" because that was where I solved the hardest of my problems, but the question was about "problems" plural, so it should have been multiple choice.

Yes, I agree. Moreover, could it be that these situations merely allow us to dwell upon something, or possibly give one’s subconscious the opportunity to bubble up a solution already formulated at some arbitrary moment in the past?

I agree. Most of my problems are solved while I'm working but occasionally I will have one with me for a few days or more and those solutions normally come to me at some random time when I'm not even remotely thinking about work, like eating my breakfast or taking a shower. I've even had one come to me while I was laying in bed trying to sleep (which of course meant I had to get up, find a computer and write it down).

That approach works best for me as well. If I can't run I'll perform slow kata for awhile to achieve a similar result. Man, now I can't wait 'till work is over.

Thought I'd throw in a penny's worth about the biblical basis for (not) running...
Prov 28:1 (Good News Bible)
"The wicked run when no one is chasing them, but an honest person is as brave as a lion."

Frankly, I'm having a hard time finding anything sufficiently Christian to say in response to that remark.
Before I was a runner, I was a couch potato with a pack-and-a-half a day smoking habit. I'll let God judge whether or not I made the right choice.

I do tend to come up with my best ideas and solutions whilst in bed. Either in that drift-time before I fall asleep or before I'm fully awake.

I have woken up in the middle of the night with several "Aha!" moments, when I have figured out a really bad bug/problem while asleep.
I even remembered the solution in the morning
I have also been known to describe my work problems to my girlfriend in depth while asleep, only to be told about it in the morning and have no recolection
If you vote me down, my score will only get lower

I had that as well, my wife has often asked me coding/developing specific questions about a project I was currently working on, and I was baffled how she knew about this (as she has no idea about my work whatsoever) until she let on that I would sometimes talk in my sleep about problems I had had during the day.....
bum... and I thought I´d got rid of all the bugs

A lot of times when that happens I just wake up and just solve the problem instead of waiting till morning.

For some of us, that would require driving to work in the middle of the night. Most people don't like the all-nighter and tend to avoid it as much as they can.

Driving into work to do your work is very 1970s In this day and age you don't physically need to be at work to "be at work". There are plenty of intrastructures available that allow you to access your applications and data from anywhere using almost any device.
This is actually what I do so it only makes sense that I would use it as well

You're not alone.
I was once totally suprised that I had solved a problem while sleeping. Infact I dreamt about me conding the solution and when I woke in the morning I could still remember it and it worked.... rather bizzar.
Perhaps I wasn't dreaming about it, but was in some semi-sleep state where it felt like I was dreaming, but it was during my sleepcycle

And there I was thinking I was the only one that had that "ability". I can dream of my problem, come up with a solution and the next day try it out. For some reason, it always works.
