Guilty as charged. I normally have ‘debugging’ conversations with my machine. I.e. “Well, why aren’t you working then? Oh, I see, you’re subtracting that variable twice again aren’t you piece of [censored]”. I swear at my machine quite a lot actually.
And isn’t a friend a companion you enjoy spending time with? I enjoy spending time with my computer, so long as it doesn’t frustrate me, in the same way I enjoy playing with my dogs. I think that qualifies it as a friend  .
with the exception of the blood-sucking part, you have the same basic characteristics as a vampire.
Again, I'm guilty of that one. I frequently work from 10 AM through till 6 PM, then again from 8PM through to at least 3AM, sometimes as late/early as 7AM. I am a creature of the night.
And here’s a good one I found (Apparently all Linux zealots are geeks!):

So, am I a geek or not? I voted Quasi-geek as I have some remnants of a social life not related to computers.
But if the question was “Are you a nerd” then the answer would be very different...

Heh, I do that too. Probably not a good idea when I worked in a cube, but oh well, I guess I provided some raunchy entertainment for the other guys in the office.

Back when I use to do music, I was sitting in my friends music store talking shop.
He was with another friend of his and they started talking music equipment. For about 5 minutes they held a conversation filled with names and acronyms that no moral human could have ever understood.
Ever since then my definition of a geek has been:
"Anyone who can carry on an extended conversation with another of like mind that 'normal' people couldn't understand."
Of course, being a music geek still gets you more babes than being a computer geek.

Your Uber-geek is basically the same as mega-geek, but, uber-geek also attends star-trek conventions in full dress uniform

In fact, I've got no idea what uber-geek means. This whole star-treck thing never caught on here in Malta. To me it is a bunch of bs, but I can understand that to many people it is a very important part of their lives....
