... so I answered on behalf of my minions.
I just convert BACON into designs.

Oh so true. When was the last time you looked at a turd and commented, "Great design!"?

I still managed to get the BACON into it. It's been really hard getting a decent design down on paper since I gave up smoking.

Doesn't "native code" and "jit code" apply to embedded systems as well? Embedded systems must be broken further into those categories. And what is "native other"? Is that "native embedded" then? In one way, each of the options would apply to embedded systems as well!
The options must be reviewed.
|
|
|

I was wondering about that too. I thought "Native Code (other)" may refer to other word-sizes.
Does anyone still target 16-bit nowadays, even in embedded development?

I keep bookmarking things by accident... darn fat fingers...
Anyway... the embedded I've worked on has still been 32bit.

I use 8 bit for embedded systems! And 16 bit for other things :P (See my profile)

I have never heard of an embedded system using JIT compilation - it normally would take longer than you would want, and would also mean that the compiler etc. would need to be present in the final image loaded into the hardware. Since processing power and space are normally at a premium in embedded designs, I can't see it catching on.

The .Net Micro Framework uses JIT for embedded devices. It has been open sourced by Microsoft too. I know there are some commercial devices that use it, but I've mostly heard of it for hobby developers by way of the Netduino[^].

What about GPU programming (eg, with OpenCL or CUDA)? I think it would fall under Native (Other), so there's a reason for it .
|
|
|

It's multiple choice, so someone who did JIT embedded code could check both the JIT and the embedded checkbox.

No. That generates wrong stat. Every option checked would be incrimented by one, which is wrong and misleading.

Hmm. I guess more than Just In Time that sounds like SomeHow In Time.

I was thinking of putting bacon, CListCtrl and Salma Hayek in there, but then I though that wouldn't be original

Excellent, so your first thought is to get on to CP to look for help

Actually my first thought is to hit my boss in the face
I (usually) don't need CP to help me get my code working
