Hello forum,

as a novice user of TortoiseGit (after a year of TortoiseSvn), I'm wondering what the difference may be between
- "Switch/Checkout" with the "Create new branch" option checked and
- "Branch" with the "Switch to new branch" option checked.

Or is it just two ways of achieving the exact same result?

Sorry, this is incorrect question, makes no sense at all. Read on main concepts separately, learn all you need to learn, don't "compare", it makes no sense. These are fundamental and simple concepts you need to understand very well. They are not related to TortoiseGit, they are the concepts of Git and are shared between several other Revision Control Systems. This is not a place to request another big article on them — sorry again.

Caught you in a bad mood today, huh? Sorry for that.

But for a more interesting question: How do you hide your name behind "(no name)" when editing someone's question?

"No name"? How about some thinking about it? :-)

No, I'm sorry if you are frustrated.

As to the "mood", what one would do in a good mood? To get git documentation, read what is branch and what checkout does, and so one? And than? Telling you what you could read yourself? And what? Will you tell me: "I already read all that"? And now what? Sorry, but if you have some issue, please ask more specific question, otherwise one would think that the only issue is to read on the topic. So far, you did not indicate any other issues. Sorry again.
