Sorry if you could not open it. Perhaps your version of Visual Studio is incompatible (older than required).
Do the following: install VS 2013 Community Edition (very good version distributed free of charge) and try again.
Later on, you will be able to put source code in your own solution, because most or all code itself should be compatible. If you have problems on this stage, I'll be able to help.

If you have other problems, try to ask the author of the article in the "Comments and Discussion" section. The author will receive a notification when you ask a questions, and a chance to reply.
