How to create a browser plugin for firefox

We have to develop a plugin , for that we have to take the contents in the current webpage and by using that data my plugin has to respond

I don't know in which language the plugin has to be developed.

So anyone can give me the references to do that. Thanks in advance

My specifications

First I have to identify the required text in the webpages.

For that text I have to apply some logic , that logic is written in c and also some are in perl

So my plugin has to linkup those things and have to work
