how to make a real transient/step response on visual basic 6.0?

hello everyone, is there anyone know how to make a real transient response/step response in Visual Basic 6.0? i have a project which my plan is make a real transient response from the output of Arduino UNO (the case is about motor DC position control) to the input of visual basic 6.0. Transient response of motor dc movement to the final position. I use potensio linear for position motor sensor.
