How to consume asmx web services (not WCF) using HTTPS. Do you have any solid working example?

I'm looking for an example which shows how web services will be consumed through https. Do i need to install certificates while testing in local IIS. If so, please provide me with proper link that i can look into and follow.

Consumed by what? A website? A Windows Forms Program? A mobile app?

It's just a url usually. It depends on who created the webservice and whether or not they require something like x509 certs. Some webservices are called exactly the same whether it is http or https. You really need to be talking to whoever made the web service.
