I'm using Git and I stored my remote repo on a SaaS.
I renamed the project folder both on my local machine and in the page of my remote repository.
Now I'm on Git bash and I checked out to master from the new directory by writing the following (renamed_folder is my renamed project folder):
$ cd "renamed_folder"
$ git checkout master
I'm on the master branch of my new directory now, i.e. I see this:
myAccountName/c/Repository/renamed_folder(master)
$
The
Git status shows me what I expected, so it seems that I'm in the right place: the master branch of my renamed project folder.
But when I try to push to publish my local commits, I get the following (I subsitute possible sensitive info with XXX):
$ git push
remote: XXX: The following project does not exist: renamed_folder. Verify that the name of the project is correct and that the project exists on the specified XXX Server.
fatal: repository 'https://XXX.com/my_Account_Username/renamed_folder/_git/name_of_the_renamed_folder_git/' not found
I also did the following:
$ git remote set-url origin "https://XXX.com/my_Account_Username/renamed_folder"
And now when I try to push I get the following:
git push
fatal: repository 'https://XXX.com/my_Account_Username/renamed_folder/' not found
What did I exactly do and what does that "fatal" error mean?
Should I reset the hostname or do I have to create my remote and local repository from scratch? In case I just have to reset the hostname, how can I accomplish that?
What I have tried:
<pre>$ git remote set-url origin "https://XXX.com/my_Account_Username/name_of_the_renamed_folder"
git push
fatal: repository 'https://XXX.com/my_Account_Username/name_of_the_renamed_folder/' not found
