I have read a gazillion examples of how to freeze headers and footers and columns in an ASP Gridview, but I have not been able to get any to work with my code. The table I am creating has a variable header and footer. The header can have 2 to 6 header rows and 1 to 4 footer rows depending on the data being displayed. In addition, the total number of rows and columns varies depending on the dataset selected. I want the header rows to be frozen and the footer rows to be frozen and the first column to be frozen if there is overflow.

What I have tried:

Many examples using CSS and Javascript.

Use brute force on the server to generate exactly what you want instead of relying on "styling" if that's not your strong point (nothing wrong with that).

Why torture yourself with how you "should" do it if you can find a more intuitive way.
