Unable to re-configure SharePoint

Hello,

I am stuck at a point while reconfiguring the SharePoint Server.
- I am doing on a Standalone system
- As there was a problem with the SQL server I had to uninstall the SQL Server 2008 R2 and Sharepoint Server 2010

- Installation completed but when I go to the Configuration wizard on the step 8 of 10 I get the error as below.

Configuration Failed:

One or More COnfiguration settings failed.

Failed to create sample data.

An Exception of the type System.Invalid OperationException was thrown .Additional exception information:Could not get the timezoneid from the rotsite of SharepointCentralAdministration.
Please make sure the central administartion is accessible and you have the required farm administator permission

I am not sure what needs to be done.Please note that there was Sharepoint set up on this Win 7 Laptop before. We have deleted the central admin application from IIS also and checked.Still issue persists. Please advise.

I would uninstall everything SharePoint related from control panel. You can't rely on simply removing the applications from IIS, the whole thing needs removing.

When you reinstall, I can't emphasize how important it is to never ever choose the standalone installation, even if you are installing everything on one machine. Install SQL Server first, then run a farm install of SharePoint and select your SQL server when it asks you to.

Thanks for your reply!

I had actually uninstalled it completely but still Webservice App pool was running in IIS and the 14 hive folder was still there.

- So manually I deleted that folder and remove the application.Configuration was successful :)
