I'm cleaning up my computer and I was going through the Windows (7) features. I was really surprised that I was unable to find a simple explanation of what iss is. So, I would appreciate very basic information about the available W7 features.

-IIS 6 Mgt console
-IIS 6 Scripting Tools
-IIS 6 WMI Compatability
-ISS Metabase and conf compatability
-ISS management console
-ISS mgt script and tools
-ISS mgt service
-world wide web services
-application development features
-common http features
-health and diagnostics
-security
-internet inf services hostable web core
-Microsoft .net framework 3.5.1
-MSMQ Serve core
-Remote Differential Compression
-RIP Listener
-SNMP
-Simple TCPIP
-TCPIP
-Windows Process Activation Service
-.NET Environment
- Configuration APIs
-Process Model

FYI
I have no formal computer training but I am everyone's first phone call. What I know, I know well and what I don't know I don't know at all. At the same time, if something sound interesting I will learn it. From what info I have found on iss, I think it has something to do with making websites. Does this apply to using Weebly or Wix?

You've a tag named 'ISS' but this question is about 'IIS'.
When I read a 'ISS' tag I think of the Internation Space Station.
And it's more then that. I see around 5 times 'ISS' instead of 'IIS'.

1 solution

I would suggest you to go through the wiki Internet Information Services[^].
You will know what IIS is ? and you will also find lots of reference links, which will help you to know all the concepts.

Thanks...

Thanks but I think that article is for people who already know what it really is. That was the first place I went.
I guess no. Wiki is always helpful, which describes the concepts from the scratch.
This wiki is also like that. Go thorougly and you will surely understand the concepts.
There are many other useful reference links below the wiki, which will help you explore in depth.
Thanks...
