Maybe you can get some ideas from my article Beginners guide to a secure way of storing passwords[^] It covers how to store user credentials and authentication in a safe way.

But why do you have to use an aspx-webform in a MVC3 project? And have you tried ASP.NET Membership? Rahul Rajat Singh has written e rally good article about it: Understanding ASP.NET Roles and Membership - A Beginner's Tutorial[^]
