How ApplicationPool in IIS serves the particular website request?

Hi,
I am googling for many days to find the inner workings of AppPool in finding the particular website.
e.g, when I hit codeproject.com it reaches to the IIS where it is hosted and sys.http have all the information about the pools in there, but I want to know the algorithm uses for searching in the appool, because in this particular pool there are many websites hosted, then how it reaches there either comparing one by one or ....?

I know what the application pool does, but how it performs, that is my question. I am sorry I couldn't find answer in both of the above articles.
I just need the algorithm behind searching???
