I have seen a number of reported issues with the combination of hosting in a WCF Service in a Windows Service and trying to connect with a Silverlight client. Most of the time the problem seems to be cross-domain related access errors.

To start with, there is no root directory to place the clientaccesspolicy.xml file as with a IIS hosted WCF Service. I have seen solutions that involve setting up a CrossDomainService with a ProvidePolicyFile() method to return the xml file in a message or a stream. I have tried adding that code and I have also seen suggestions to change the port address to the 4502-4532 range or opening port 943 for a "policy-file-request" from the Silverlight client. Most likely, I am missing something in the configuration or in my understanding of how this WCF service should work.

Can anyone lend some help here or is there a complete project (that works) available for download that covers this situation?

Thanks,
