First thing stop using your laptop as you might overwrite the file you want to recover.
There are many tools available on the

Personally I have used
Recuva[
^] with success. They have a
portable version[
^] that is very handy, as you do not want to install software on the machine (drive) you need to recover a file from.
Download the portable version to a thumb drive and unzip it and start Recuva.exe. Then select the drive the file was located on and start the scan.
Again best to download this on another PC as not to perform any action that will overwrite the file you want to recover.
