I have a .net application that uses crystal reports to create a PDF document that is emailed out to several clients. The PDF document has a hyperlink that was created by Crystal reports hyperlink function that points to one of our website pages. The link opens a new tab in IE but will not focus on it. Anyone know how to focus on the new tab that is opened by the link. In the IE tools I have the "Always switch to new tabs when they are created checked."

AFAIK, this is IE specific setting.

When you go to internet options in IE and select tab setting, you will find an option 'Always switch to new tab when they are created'. Check that option and it should be fine for you.

So this is a user specific setting and will depend on how a user want to handle new window / tabs.
