UML diagram in visual studio 2017

Hello,
1) I still have uml diagrams, activity diagrams, classdiagrams from VS2015, that I cannot open anymore on VS2017, is there a tool I could use to keep updating such documentation or make new diagrams?
2) Will the source code of VS2015 documentation’s tool become opensource, in such a way that we as a community can keep upgrading it?

Solution 2

the Class Designer component is no longer installed by default. Rerunning the VS Installer and adding the Class Designer component helps.
