Allow end user to manually stretch / resize a combobox on toolstrip

I have a comboBox on my ToolStrip that is used to enter search criteria. If the text is longer than the comboBox width (not the drop-down) can display, I would like the user to be able to stretch the left-hand side of the comboBox.

I know that I can automatically modify the drop-down width of a comboBox to match the length of the longest string, however I want to allow manual resizing of the textbox part, not the drop-down..

I tried inserting a splitter into the toolstrip, but it wouldn't accept it.
